I have decided to have one made with the motto from the order of the garter on it in latin.? Itreads "Evil to him that evil thinks."? I am stuck with a miserable job barcodeing and stuffing boxes with PVC pipe fittings at Spears in Caney Kansas.? A little 42 year-old girl broke my heart one lunch period? She was sitting smoking with tears running down her cheeks.? I asked if I could help and she said no, she just hadn't had anything to eat all day..? IT WAS 8:30 AT NIGHT !.? I asked her to share my lunch plate and she gratefully accepted.? We talked and I discovered her aunt was kicking her out of her room because some boy she knew had let himself in while she was gone.? Caney is a smalll town and she had no phone or transportation.? She paid for rides the 3 miles to work from people that passed right by there.? I gave her an off road bike and back pack and told her to go to all the preachers and see if anyone in their congregation had a room to rent her.? She had bought a car and when she went to insure it a headlight fell out so I found her the best deal on a header plate and headlight and a great deal on installation.? I got some commodities for her and a matress and comforter, sheets, pilllow, . since she was sleeping on a piece of foam rubber with no sheet? She had a marriage where the husband screwed around on her for 3 years and left her bbecause he was paying child suppport.? A landlord let himself in and raped her,\? She wishes to remain cellibate but got lonely and went out with the boy who got her drunk and did her until he got HIS jolleys and quit and then abused and beat on her and pushed her out of the car.? Then he went to work and bragged about beating a 5'1" 112 lb girl.? I gave her a needed tire for her car from my wreck and it didn't fit so the man took her last $25 for food to put on a used tire.? I gave her $25.? ? The asshole that hurt her lives in an appt behind and saw the money and my car so naturally ran his mouth at work I paid her for sex.? I also gave her a dildo so she wouldn't need a man,?which he saw etc, etc.? I figured I had better tell my wife what was really going on.? After the shock of my problem-solving, dildo and all wore off, she wanted to help me with my adopted little sister.? I told her she will NOT be hurt or go hungry ever again as long as I'm around,? God has richly rewarded us and I'm more deeply in love with my wife than when we were first married.? Every day of the week ends in Y but starts with a huge "O"? Maybe you can understand why I am going to have the shirt made.? We are legendary at work but really don't give a shit.??She has been spending all her spare money online to get a degree as a dental assistant so she?might have a life someday? I am proud of her for that? Keith Williams

Re: Remember me?

Hey Ron,

Have you joined the ranks of the hard-core unemployed now? If so, WELCOME!

For what it's worth, when I retired I sold off my fleet of bikes and only kept the W and a Ural sidecar. If push comes to shove, the sidecar goes first.

They may be out of production, but the ones out there seem to be holding up quite well...from what I can tell from this group.

Hi Gang,

I've got a confession - I haven't got a W650 at present, although I
did used to have one of the specially quick maroon ones with the
comfortable high bars! I'm running around on either a Honda FJS600
scooter (for sale on eBay if you're interested) or a Royal Enfield
Electra 500 currently. Never could decide whether I was a mod or a
rocker - much to the annoyance of Dick Tym! I just thought that I'd
rejoin this group to see what's the latest on W650s. Are they still
being made? I can't find anything later than 2005 on any site.

What I REALLY want to do is to identify and purchase the bike that's
going to be my final bike, taking me through retirement into
infirmity! I've tried most things (and my wife's sick to death of
eBay purchases and sales....) but I think that possibly the W650 will
be the one I go back to. How are they holding up to the passage of
time?

I've signed up to receive all emails as an experiment - how many
postings is the group getting these days? Three or four years ago it
was so high that I dropped off the direct mailing list 'cos I
couldn't keep up! Mind you, I was still working then.

Cheers - I look forward to hearing from you again.

Ron Cartwright.

Hey Ed;

I've often mused about adding a little height to the seat, but never
did anything about it (other than buy the wrong-sized gel pad. Oops.) Got a picture of your homemade booster seat?

2001 was the last year of export to North America and I think 2007 was
the last year of export to the UK and Europe. Still sold in Japan so
parts should be available for a long time to come if you can find a
used one for sale. US and Canadian prices range from $3500-5500 for
the 2000/01s.

I freaked when I saw the asking price, but Eva says she was watching for a good price in Germany where it should be less expensive.

There are 264 b/w photos, rather tiny but designed to be used with a magnifier, one which the publisher would gladly sell you (doubt that they have any at this point in time). One detail that the booksellers on the web that I checked don't mention is that the photos, which are pasted on each page, were obtained in packs of German cigarettes, or by coupon from your tobacconist.

This is so way cool!! (I love Zeps).

My wife rides a Kymco People 150 scooter that she really likes,

Dennis,

I must admit that I don't ride much once the gritting lorries hit
the road, but I live 1/4 mile from the sea and drive my old Land
Rover all year round, I've found ACF 50 to work very well at keeping
the old tin worm at bay. It looks expensive, but goes a very long
way, a ?12.00 can will treat all the vulnerable areas of the truck
for a year..it's also important to stop salty crud forming in nooks
and crannies..I use a low pressure power hose, but that's probably
not the best thing for a bike...

Mark,
