I've got a set if you need them, Jim. I'm pretty sure they're off
an RD...they're not from mine but some from a bucket of parts I got somewhere or another. A left and a right, too...even have the tuning fork logo on the backs of them. Re: Yamaha RD 350 Content
Update on orange RD (1975 RD 350 C).
I rode the bike last night around the nieghborhood. Still may not have ridden it long enough to warm it to the point that it makes the noise that Evan, the PO, heard. My younger brother said that he heard some "piston slap", not unusual for a two stroke (both these bikes have 13,000 + miles showing, and obviously piston and rings are called for on the "B" model now, but I figuire I am only half way to new rings on the "C"). Since my initial starting session, now it always starts on first kick, will roll-on wheelie in first, others I have owned would do that in the first few gears, but this one runs better everytime I ride it so that may still be happening at some point. That wheelie anytime it feels like it (and not always when you want it to), was what endangered my base driving privileges back in 1975 when I owned my first RD..an orange 1975. Evan had mirrors in a drawer at his condo, don't know if those were RD mirrors or not, niether of my new bikes have mirrors, or batteries. I have extra mirrors here and I had one adapter for the right hand mirror to allow use of a regular mirror, Yamahas have a reverse thread on the right mirror. The left turn signal was missing on "C", so I have already put the one from "B" on it..the signals still don't work, and the bike only has one fuse..the main, so I am going to have to look around for a wiring problem. All other lights work just fine, and the bike seems OK with the NS 3 AMP battery in place. I will be putting the luggage rack from the "B" model on the "C" model...the "C" is a keeper as it is like my first RD, I owned my "B" model several motorcycles after I owned the "C", and my "C" had a luggage rack. Also thinking about a SUPER BIKE bar swap, it was something that I thought about when I owned the first one, my R5 had CLUBMAN bars, upside down for some reason..I guess I didn't know at the time that they were supposed to emulate clip-ons. Re: bring back the w650 to the us - Petition
Pete Cordell
Matty,
Cosmic, IMO, is something like the new Suzuki B-King thingy. Tigers, Stroms, Beemer GS's, KLR's, etc, etc, sell well because they work well in the real world. Granted, they might look a little goofy to the purist, but they are popular for a reason. When I advertised my V-Strom last Feb. I sold it on the second inquiry....by email, sight unseen, at a high-ish price for the mileage and condition. I had at least a dozen more calls (from as far away as Texas) before I could pull the ad off of Craigslist. The local dealer here stays sold out of them while his cruisers and rep racers are languishing this year. I like Classic bikes and I like 'classic' bikes, too, but I wouldn't use a '56 Crown Victoria as my day-to-day ride. Versys - was: bring back the W to the US petition
Pete Cordell
Looking forward to it myself; the Versys ticks all the right boxes
for me. I was hoping Suzuki would re-jigger the 650 Strom just a bit, as I had seriously considered getting another, but except for the colors, the '08's are the same. Looked very hard at a leftover '06 Triumph Tiger recently (came sooooo close to pulling the trigger on it too) but the relatively high cost (for me) and the fact that I always - always - seem to gravitate back to the 650/750 class made me back off. Thanks for the UK link Dennis; as per most UK bike sites there's a bunch of solid info there. Pete C --- In W650riders@..., "Dennis J. Guggemos" <djguggms@...> wrote: on it, really liked it. ---I doubt if you see the W come back. I think values on W 650s will start to go up and bringing more over will dampen that. For what its' worth, Kawasaki is supposed to bring this to the states in 2008. IT's got a lot of the Ninja 650R in it and if you're <BR>a parallel twin fan, what's not to like? . |

I thinnk it's a Beta Rev-3. It's a Trials bike and the manouvers he is performing are typical of indoor observed Trials but he's applying them to a freestyle environment. Notice the absence of any seat whatsoever...

Thank you so much!!! I certainly will post pic's once I'm done with it. It is my first big bike. I'm a german immigrant in the US and I used to ride in Germany small bikes (Zndapp and Kreidler mainly 50 cc's and dirt bikes), but when my daughter was born I stopped riding (25 years ago).? I enjoyed riding on the back of my husbands bikes, but when he was deployed to Afghanistan (1 1/2 yrs ago) I had to find something to do. I decided bike riding is something I truly enjoy and bought myself a 250 Honda Rebel, however I soon realized it was just not enough power for me on the freeways. I started looking for a used? newer Bonneville and came across a W650 and thought it was a much prettier bike. My husband could not believe I bought this bike while he was gone, he was proud of me, haha. He informed me it is a somewhat rare bike here in the US, they only sold 700 here in the US. And yes I agree with you it does look a lot closer to a Triumph 1959. Anita Ruari McLennan wrote:

开云体育Anita:? I can't really tell you about other
bikes, the W650 is my first (at least my first in 30 years).? But, I hear
that like me, most have to get used to a firm flip up into second gear, or it
may stay in neutral occasionally.? I still rev her in neutral once in a
while.? Also, a slow "tick, tick" sound on idling is normal.? Look out
for cracks starting on the rear fender at the edge near the top of the tailligh
bracket.??? Keep the oil at 1/2 way up the sight window when
cold, not at the top, or it overflows into the airbox.? Test for weave or
wobble by taking your hands off and decelerating at 45-50 mph.? No, don't
differentiate between the two (W or W), or we'll get a hundred e-mails
explaining the difference ad nauseum.?? I will remember the other
foibles tomorrow when I get on her.??
Send a pic when your "ride is pimped."? Paul
on Vancouver Island here has a nice cafe style W.? I am trying for a 50s
standard Britbike look, with lapses like 60s grips & the?later Lucas
turn signals and round mirrors.? Look is half the fun with this bike.?
I have a theory that the 1999-2000 model is closer to a 1959 T120? first year Triumph "Bonneville" in appearance than any
other year, especially the seat, despite all the writers who say it's like a
1968.? Click?Google Images and see if you agree.

Thanks!!! Yeah he knows about that. We are stoked about the ride it'll be my first long ride. Going from LA to Monterey, its a great ride along Big Sur. He rides a 04 Triumph Thruxton. Of course when we ride up together to any place everyone thinks the W is a brit bike. I just love bursting their bubble. :) Anita "Dennis J. Guggemos" wrote:
