BUG REPORT - PLEASE READ.
In responding to a user question, I have just discovered something that's not working quite as planned.
Everything is still ok to run, but you should do the following: In the W4EL Setup window, go to the "Enhanced ALE Fields" tab and click TX Power, Age and Remarks boxes. Then Save and Restart. These are supposed to be optional, but without them being checked, the overlay contest exchange boxes are missing from the Logbook ALE and you cannot manually enter data in the regular Logbook exchange boxes. Sorry if this has caused any problems or confusion. It will be fixed ASAP. 73, Ed - W4ELP |

New Version Available
W4ELP Lookup v9.15 is posted in the Files > Program Files of the forum, ready for download.
This version contains critical updates for those using HRD v6.8 as well as earlier versions. NEW FEATURE: Special Interest Group (S.I.G.) ops. For participation in FISTS, NAQCC, PODXS 070 Club and SKCC. Does member lookups, inserts info in Remarks and will create separate log file for sprints, etc. Note that this feature is somewhat experimental and is still being developed, so documentation is not yet in the main user manual. See separate instructions included. Recent changes in HRD 6.8 and above were not fully compatible with the previous 9.13 version of W4ELP Lookup. This version should provide full compatibility and be ready for Field Day ops including using the N3FJP Field Day logger. |
Re: W4ELP lookup
开云体育The right click issue with DM780 is on the priority fix list at HRD according to Perry. I hope that is corrected before field day.Steve 2301 On Jun 14, 2022, at 17:26, Ed - W4ELP <w4elp.ed@...> wrote:

Re: W4ELP lookup
开云体育Well I’ll be doggoned! Here’s mine – Pretty much the same thing! Guess by the time 6.8.0.89 came out, I had moved to a later version of the Lookup program. This for sure isn’t right. But even with the latest beta of my program, something’s not aligned quite right. Hang loose for a bit, Gary – This will get my immediate attention. Want to have it right as far as possible ahead of Field Day. 73, Ed – W4ELP ? ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of KT7AZ

Re: W4ELP lookup
Gary,
My direct email is W4ELP.Ed@...?if you'd like to use that. Please verify the HRD version and N3FJP version you're using. Start HRD and N3FJP then W4ELP last. It sounds like it's getting the RST field confused with the Rcv Exchange.? DM780 does default to 599 for RST, but should NOT try to put it in N3FJP's exchange field. Also, when you log in HRD, it's supposed to also log in N3FJP automatically. If you would, please email me a screen shot of the whole DM780 window. There may be something open that I hadn't thought about. 73, Ed - W4ELP |
W4ELP lookup
Ed,
Not sure on mailing address so used the one above. Got an error on link you had in last email. Just got back at it. Getting better but a few more things I have noticed. The log field RST box loads 599 in sent and rcvd on every QSO. This then populates the Class Field in N3FJP. I can go to the RST Rcvd box and choose “blank” from scroll down then enter the exchange in the HRD Exchange boxes, then it populates N3FJP correctly. I need to enter my Sent exchange every time. On enter from the ALE it logs to HRD logbook but I still need to go back up to N3FJP and click in a field and Enter key to get the QSO logged there. Gary KT7AZ |

Just ran through some exercises and practice QSOs with HRD and N3FJP Field Day logger 6.6.3. All working ok.?
My program can be rather quirky until you get the hang of it, so don't give up - it'll work! As I mentioned, I'll be glad to help get you up and running if needed. You might want to email me direct at W4ELP.Ed@...?to avoid overloading everyone's mailboxes here. 73, Ed - W4ELP |
Re: iNTERFACE WITH HRD

Gary I found one problem already. I was emulating your setup with all the "enhanced" boxes unchecked. That prevents the Contest Mode checkbox from appearing, and you can't select contest mode! That's my fault - not yours.
In the enhanced fields setup, check the bottom box for comment field and hit Save & Restart. Then you'll have a comment box that you can type multiple lines as well as the contest mode checkbox. 73, Ed - W4ELP |
Re: iNTERFACE WITH HRD
#file-notice
Gary,
It should work ok. I'll check it with the N3FJP FD logger again to be sure.? The program does so some rearranging of DM7780 fields, depending on whether the "Contest Mode" box is checked in the DM780 ALE. Do a restart on DM780 to set the ALE fields back to normal, then restart W4ELP (CTL+ALT+R). In the setup window of W4ELP, Operating tab, uncheck the QRP flag box in the lower left corner. If checked, it's supposed to monitor your power setting in My Station and put a note in Comments if you're less than 20 watts. I thought rearranging the DM780 fields for contest or not contest would provide a little more intuitive layout, but it may be more confusing than it's worth. That "feature" may get changed back. If you need further help, I'll be glad to get together by phone or to do a Team Viewer session.?? 73, Ed - W4ELP |
Re: iNTERFACE WITH HRD

Dave,
thanks for the interface. I am having a bit of trouble with V9.13, N3FJP FDLog 6.6.3 and HRD 6.8.0.89. I have setup per your instructions and am seeing callsign fill to N3FJP from HRD, but when I hit tab in HRD log after entering the call the RST "599" populates the CLASS in N3FJP and places me in the SECTION field. The Logging screen in HRD also has out of place boxes that I cannot tell for what.? It also is putting <QRP 10-100w> in some box as well.? even though I have unchecked all boxes in "Enhanced ALE Fields". Thanks, Gary KT7AZ |

Re: iNTERFACE WITH HRD

Dave-
What are you trying to interface with HRD? If it's just the W4LEP Lookup program, that's in the Files section of the forum. As Buz mentioned, there's a Beta with some added features in the Beta Files section. That version will be changing often as I get the program tweaked. Right now it supports FISTS, NAQCC, PODXS 070 club and SKCC member lookups and separate logging for sprints. It does work with the latest HRD versions as well as the oldest. And it does include the ability to right-click capturing a callsign or contest exchange which is currently broken in recent HRD versions. 73, Ed - W4ELP |

开云体育Dave,I forgot to mention, you will need to read his basic program instructions which is in Files also. ?There is another instruction in Files/Beta for the additional PODXS070 features. Best 73, Buz, WA5AMM? On Jun 12, 2022, at 12:33 PM, Dave Tucker Nu4N <dwtucker19@...> wrote:
