NEW PROGRAM - W4ELP's Master Keys v1.0 3
Announcing a new program – “Master Keys” by W4ELP. It’s actually the same program as W4ELP Lookup, but it is ONLY for HRD V6.8 or later. Support for older HRD versions has been removed to simplify the code and allow more efficient operation. Since its inception 14 years ago, the Lookup program has evolved so much that doing callsign lookups is now just a small part of the whole picture, therefore it seemed that the name “Lookup” was somewhat misleading. Master Keys retains all of the features of Lookup and operation is the same. And it is still compatible with N3FJP, SKCC and NAQCC logging programs. Upon installation of Master Keys, the original configuration file will be copied into a new one and the old C:\W4ELP\Hotkeys folder will be automatically deleted. Master Keys has actually been ready for over a year. I was holdng off releasing it so that I could make any changes necessary for HRD V6.9. But since HRD v6.9 keeps being delayed, I’m going ahead. If you're using the W4ELP Lookup program with HRD v6.8, please upgrade to Master Keys. The original W4ELP Lookup program will remain available on this site for a short time before being deleted. If you have HRD v5.X, I would encourage you to upgrade to the current Ham Radio Deluxe version. If you prefer to stay with HRD 5.X and are using the Lookup program, it will continue to work as it does now, but no further development of W4ELP Lookup is planned. All future development effort will be toward W4ELP’s Master Keys. NOTE: Some virus or malware programs may flag Master Keys as a threat. IT DOES NOT CONTAIN A VIRUS. You may need to set an exception for Master Keys.exe. Please report any bugs, problems or questions. 73, Ed - W4ELP

POTA Logger Update to V4.4
POTALog v4.4 is posted and ready for download. Fixed a problem with saving of park lists in Park Finder, and picking up default values in configuration file.

Move to Windows 11 19
I have been using W4ELP software successfully for a while now but with a Windows 10 configuration. I have recently moved to Windows 11 and have been seeing some issues. I use this in conjunction with Ham Radio Deluxe and specifically DM-780. As I log a contact, I can see it populate my SKCC Logger, but when I click on ADD (F7), the log entry on SKCC Logger clears but does not append to the Logger file. It does only if I add it from the SKCC Logger window. I have printed my configuration from my Windows 10 machine and from what I can see all is the same. Is this a Windows 11 issue, a W4ELP issue, an SKCC Logger issue or Pilot Error. Any help would be appreciated.

W4ELP Lookup v9.18.1 update
The W4ELP Lookup program has been updated to v9.18.1. There was a bug which caused CQ macros to be terminated right after starting, if Limiter was blank or set to zero. Either blank or zero SHOULD have disabled the CQ Limiter and allowed unlimited CQ's. This has now been corrected. As always, please report any problems or bugs. 73, Ed - W4ELP

New POTA Watch v26.0 available 5
POTA Watch has been updated to v26.0. Frequency and Mode control are now available via N3FJP's AC Log in addition to Ham Radio Deluxe. Selecting a spot sets your VFO to the spot frequency and sets Mode to match the spot. NOTE: Mode control is a bit tricky and I only have 2 radios to test it on. So if you have any issues with mode control, please report them. For this reason, mode control can be turned on or off separately from frequency control. 73, Ed - W4ELP

POTA Watch v25.1 VFO Control Question 3
Only my second day using this app and already a second question. This time concerning VFO control. Am I correct that VFO control is only available through v25.1 in conjunction with HRD software? As you may know, I log with N3FJP, which exercises VFO control through OmniRig. Is anyone aware of a workaround whereby I can get v25.1 to control my VFO through OmniRig? Thanks & 73, Tony NY2A

POTA Watch v25.0 Issue with N3FJP ACLog 3
First off, I'd like to thank Ed for his efforts. I'm constantly amazed by the skill and generosity of hams creating and sharing software such as POTA Watch. Thank you! I just found out about POTA Watch yesterday and began playing around with it last night and today. I'm having an issue with it, however, in terms of the interface with N3FJP. When I log a POTA contact via v25, all the information EXCEPT the frequency carries over to N3FJP. Is anyone else experiencing this? Thanks in advance and 73, Tony NY2A

New POTA Watch v25.1 posted.
POTA Watch v25.1 is posted and ready for download in the Files > Program Files section of this forum. Thanks to Tony, NY2A, we found that POTA Watch was not logging frequency when using N3FJP's AC Log. This is now fixed. While doing the above fix, it was discovered that the program was sending spots even if Auto-Spot was not selected in options, so this is fixed as well. The Auto-spot thing is kind of critical, so please update to v25.1 if you're using POTA Watch. As always, please report any problems or concerns. Wishing you all the best in the New Year! 73, Ed - W4ELP

QRZ Login Issue for Callsign Lookup in POTA Watch Version 25 7
Hi Ed, For the QRZ login in POTA Watch Version 25, I know for certain that my Username is K4EET and the Password is **. I am getting this error dialog: Session ID Request Username/password incorrect The "ERROR" dialog box above appears twice by hitting "OK" to close the first dialog box and then an identical "ERROR" dialog box appears. Finally, upon pressing "OK" on the second dialog box, a third dialog pops up as "POTA Watch.exe" and simply shows my callsign (K4EET) which I was looking up. The only thing that I can think of that may be causing these three error dialogs is that I have 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) turned on. Might that be what is causing these error dialogs versus having the wrong Username/password which I can use to successfully log into QRZ directly for a callsign lookup? Thanks for your time. I would prefer to not turn off 2FA if at all possible. 73, Dave K4EET

New POTA Watch v25.0 available.
POTA Watch has been updated to v25.0 and is available for download in the Files > Program Files section of this forum. This update is the result of a major rewrite of much of the program to allow it to run more effeciently and reliably. . Added display of band as well as frequency of spots (band is optional in settings). . Sort spots by spot age (default) or by frequency . Added logging of time off in addition to time on. Since POTA QSOs are usually very short, time off is logged time + 1 minute. . Cleaned up user interface when making QSOs, logging and spotting. . Cleaned up New Station spotting and logging. . Fixed display of "special" characters in park names. . Fixed failure to log band on new station . Fixed issue in Options window with newly-selected log file path not displaying correctly. Thanks to Rainer, DO9RAI, for some great suggestions. As always, there may be some issues or bugs that I have missed in testing. Please let us know of any problems, issues or suggestions. 73, Ed - W4ELP

POTA Watch new V24.0 posted for download
W4ELP's POTA Watch v24.0 has been updated with some new features, especialy for Ham Radio Deluxe users. 1. Selecting a spot by double click or right click will now set your radio to the spot frequency. You can select VFO A, B or none. 2. Your hunter logging now can go directly into your HRD Logbook or into N3FJP's AC Log. This is done instantly via API and can be selected on/off in options. For HRD's Logbook, POTA information is put into Comments as well as the SIG and SIG_INFO fields. 3. State/Province, Grid Square and DXCC Entity # are also now logged. 4. The visual and audio alarms are now extinguished when you have wroked the station. If he moves to another band or park, the alarm will reappear if appropriate. This help reduce screen clutter. As always, there can be bugs that I missed in testing, so please post or email me with any comments or questions. 73, Ed - W4ELP

POTA Logger updated to V4.2
The POTA Logger for activators has been updated to v4.2. It's mostly just a minor tweak - changing the order of the RST and SPC fields. After my first real activation recently, I realized the order of fields didn't match the flow of actual QSO's. This should work a bit smoother for those who log RSTs and/or State/Province. Also added a text line to display the last callsign logged. As always, it's possible that I broke something with this fix, so please report any bugs or problems. 73, Ed - W4ELP

W4ELP Lookup not liked by Norton AntiVirus - False Positive? 2
The W4ELP Lookup executable is consistently being deleted because of a threat identified as the Heur.AdvMLB virus. The virus is used to steal personal information. I suspect that this is a false-positive detection but wanted to run it by the group members. I searched the messages for "Heur.AdvMLB" but did not get any hits. Is it OK to exempt this file from the scan? Heur.AdvMLB is detected each time I execute the program. Tnx es 73, Dave K4EET

POTA Watch v23.0 available
Hi Folks, POTA Watch has been updated to v23.0 as of July 24, 2024. Download at www.groups.io/g/w4elp -> Files -> Program Files. New feature - Added ability to filter spots to only show specific countries and block all others. This will help reduce screen clutter, especially at times of the day when other parts of the world are more active. Fixed several minor issues. Blank park locations were being highlighted in yellow. In Options screen, several checkboxes in Mode and Band selections were interacting incorrectly. Callsign lookups were not working correctly, especially with "Test" and "Manual Entry" buttons in Options screen. As usual, please advise of any problems or questions. 73, Ed - W4ELP
