Dave,

I used the W4ELP program with HRD 6,7 Ver during the TDW Contest and it works pretty good. ?I’ve been helping test a beta version of his program that will greatly help PODXS070 members by looking up their member number from the PODXS070 website. ?You can access his program from this io.groups site by going to files/Beta/verM. ?I don’t know if he has it working for the latest HRD version or not, I know he has done some testing but only Ed can answer that. ?I really like his program and will introduce it to the PODXS070 io.group when we get the final feature working which is making a separate log of just NEW PODXS070 contacts for helping with LONP for members with numbers greater than 2784. ?There are many great features already in his program that really enhances HRD operation and I know you will like.

Re: Searching for a QSO in my log

Sorry but the W4ELP program doesn't have a search.

Re: Searching for a QSO in my log

That depends on the logging program you're using. I use HRD Logbook and it has filters along the top I can use to search my log by several different parameters. I've been trying a little to work 3D2RRR Rotuma Island this week, but haven't put a lot of effort into it because I did a log search by callsign prefix and found I had worked 3D2R Rotuma Island on 80 meter CW in 2011 so I don't need them, not on that band anyway.?

HRD v6.8 CONTEST OPS - URGENT!

Upon investigating Steve's question this evening, I realized there is a serious problem with the new HRD v6.8 IF YOU PLAN TO DO ANY CONTEST OPS SUCH AS FIELD DAY OR THE NEW ARRL DIGITAL CONTEST.
The bottom line is that the DM780 contest fields are broken. The Sent Exchange field erases your exchange on each contact or lookup, serial number indexing does not work, and right-click grabbing of callsign or exchange does not work. Unfortunately I have not been able to successfully code a "fix" for this bug.

The big push at HRD has been to introduce HRD Alert (which is really cool by the way). I was hoping that the broken contest features would be fixed but sadly they were not. I would hope that it will happen soon, but probably not before Field Day. HRD 6.8 has a lot of great features and improvements - except for the above-mentioned problem, it is fine.

I have just checked operation with HRD v6.7.0.391 and it's still OK. So, if you still have 6.7.0.391 or its setup file, I suggest hanging onto it. If you want the best of both, it might be possible to run v6.8 except for DM780 and just use DM780 v6.7.0.391. This might work, but try at your own risk.

Sorry to bring you this news. If you have any questions or comments, please jump right in.

Ed - W4ELP

Re: Possible bug with new HRD version

Edited

Hi Steve,
I am using the W4ELP program with HRD 6.8 and so far so good. The lookup program does rearrange some of the DM780 fields, HOPEFULLY to make operations easier.
First the original DM780 layout:

They have added 2 new boxes. The smaller ones next to RST's are ONLY for QSO # and shoud only accept numbers. The 2 new wider ones below Comments are for the contest sent and received exchanges. To me, this is a cumbersome location and tabbing from one to another is all over the place. So during NON-contest ops, I hid all of the contest fields to reduce clutter and save some screen space. Also moved the contest mode checkbox up higher, out of the way. Like this:

Then, if the Contest Mode is checked, I bring back the contest fields, but in what I believe to be a more convenient location:

For Field Day, which doesn't use serial numbers, just enter your exchange in the "Exch" boxes. Hope this makes sense. Right-clicking on receive data such as call sign and exchange should capture the same as normal with the W4ELP program, just one click for each.
I haven't had a change to check this in HRD 6.8 yet, but in the beta versions, your SENT exchange data would be erased between contacts, and serial number indexing did not work, so I put in some extra code to "Band-aid" those bugs. Hopefully HRD will fix this soon.
If you would like further help on this, please email me directly at W4ELP.Ed@...?to avoid dragging out a long conversation and bombing everyone with emails. I'll be more than happy to help.

Possible bug with new HRD version

Edited

Ed:? First of all, let me say how grateful I am for your program.? I highly recommend it to everyone I talk to at Field Day.? Now for the (possible) bug.? HRD just issued a new version (v6.8) of their software.? As usual, I am going through and testing out my equipment prior to Field Day.? I have a new(er) computer I am using this year, so I downloaded the HRD v6.8, the latest version of the N3FJP logging program, and the latest version of your program.? I have no issue going through the start-up procedures of HRD and N3FJP.? Image 1 is what shows in DM-780 ALE before starting the W4ELP program.

Note the "Sent:" and "Rcvd:" boxes.

I then start the W4ELP program.? Everything comes up as expected.? EXCEPT....once W4ELP program finishes loading, the DM-780 ALE shows this:

There is an extra box in the "Sent:" and "Rcvd:" lines.? Nothing I enter in either of these translates to the macros.? I get:

I'm about to reload the previous version of HRD on this computer to see what happens.? It's also possible that I may have butchered something in the setup on this computer.? But I wanted to give you a heads up in case there may be a bug with the latest version of HRD as Field Day is fast approaching and I'm sure many people will be using your program.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions.? And thank you for all your work on this great program!

W4ELP Lookup V9.13 available for download

V9.13 of W4ELP Lookup is now posted and available at?/g/W4ELP/files/Program%20Files/W4ELP%20Lookup%20V9.13%20Setup.zip.
This release contains further modifications of the DM780 Add-Log-Entry (ALE) pane to enhance operation and to conserve screen space. ALE appearance is modified depending on whether or not in contest mode.
Contest exchange fields are hidden when not in contest mode.
Improved contest handling in HRD v5.24 as well as later versions.
Added code to detect missing contest exchange data when logging. Helps avoid "lost" contacts due to missing data.
Improved operation with N3FJP contest loggers.
Thoroughly tested with N3FJP's new ARRL International Digital Contest Logger.
Please download and update with this new version. ESPECIALLY if you plan to participate in the ARRL Digital Contest in June.

HRD / IC-9700 / SDR Console Issue

Tony

All:

I like the idea of having a larger spectrum display when working satellites so I setup SDR Console to run my SDR Play along with my IC-9700. I use HRD's Satellite tracking and I have the Doppler correction working in sync with SDR Console via Omnirig.

The setup works well, but I found that SDR Console mutes when I transmit in Satellite mode i.e., transmitting on 2 meters with the IC-9700 mutes the 70cm reception on SDR Console.

This does not happen when I disconnect HRD and transmit with the SDR Console running so it would appear that HRD is causing the issue. SDR Console does have an auto-mute feature but I have it disabled.

I switched over to HDSDR and it does not mute when transmitting so I was wondering if anyone has any ideas what might be going on with HRD.

Also wondering what other SDR software I can use with HRD Satellite tracking to accomplish the same goal? Either liking via Omni-Rig or DDE.

Ham Radio Deluxe Version poll #poll-notice

Hi Folks!
I need to find out some information about how many might be using some of the older versions of Ham Radio Deluxe. For the newer features of W4ELP Lookup, supporting versions prior to 6.7 or 6.6 is becoming more difficult.?
There were a HRD few versions, around 6.2 to 6.5, which contained code that would sense the presence of W4EL and kill it, so those versions won't work with W4ELP anyway.
I intend to continue full support of v5.24, the last free versions. I know there are still a lot of those in use, and they still work quite well.
If you're using multiple versions, perhaps on different computers, you can choose more than one answer.

This is the first time I have tried a poll on the forum, so we'll see if it works.
Your response will be very much appreciated!
