Re: Error messages
Sorry about the proble, Andy.?
Uninstall removes the program files that came with the installer, but not the ini file that's written on the first startup. You can try deleting the ini file and starting over. Otherwise, I don't know why the message about the session ID request would keep coming back as long as you have the correct QRZ user name and password. Try shuttng lookups off in the Lookup program and letting HRD do the lookup (but not both at the same time). Lookups SHOULD work ok in contest mode, but it wouldn't hurt to try. This shouldn't affect the message, but you should have N3FJP running before starting the lookup program, or restart lookup (CTL-ALT-R).? I'll see if I can replicate the problem here. 73, Ed - W4ELP |
Re: Error messages
开云体育I have had that before. Look on DM780 in the ALE tab. There is a small click box that says contest mode. That will fix it.Steve? VA3FLF On Feb 10, 2024, at 09:59, Andy Cogswell <cogswell1635@...> wrote:

Andy Cogswell
I installed this program today. I'm running HRD and for the CQ WPX RTTY contest, I'm using the N3FJP software. At first, it integrated nicely and worked out of the box. Then I wanted to change the look up method to QRZ so I checked the option, and entered my credentials. Now when I start the program, a box pops up that says "Session ID Request Username/password incorrect" (the QRZ information is 100% correct) and when I click OK, it appears to load the program but then a box keeps popping up and going away over and over that says "Contest mode off". It does this until I right click on the task bar and force it shut. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times but now it doesn't work. I guess I shouldn't have messed with the look up settings. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Even though I've reinstalled it, it seems that the uninstall for it isn't up to par, as it doesn't remove all data associated with the file.

Re: Groups.io Reverification Request
Fellow group members,
Replying to the group will not reverify your account. Please read what Jack sent carefully. He stated, "If you didn't receive a request, you're good - don't worry about it. For those who did, you have until Feb. 11th to reverify." This means if you get a message from groups.io (not any single group like this one) about reverification of your account, just reply to it. That's all you need to do. AND, that is ONLY if you actually receive such a message from groups.io. The FAQ on reverification says: "Some members have been sent an email with the subject Action Required: Confirm Your Groups.io Membership to Continue Receiving Group Emails. It asks the member to either respond to the email or log into their account in order to confirm their membership. Most such accounts are ones that haven't posted in a long time. It's important that all know that this email is legit. It's not a phish." If you didn't get a message with this subject: Action Required: Confirm Your Groups.io Membership to Continue Receiving Group Emails Then you DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING. Not everyone will be receiving this message, and it's probably only a few percent who will see this and need to reverify. Here's the complete reverification FAQ: /static/reverifyfaq If you go to the group and you can see the group messages, you're good. If you need to log into the group to see group messages, do so and you're good. If you don't have a password or don't remember one, click "forgot password" and GIO will send you a login link that will let you into the group and then (you guessed it!) you're good. While you're in there, you can set up a password for future logins, but this safety feature will always be there for you as long as you keep your address up to date and don't change it without changing it on GIO. So either responding to the email or logging in or going to the group will serve to reverify your account. I did what Ed did when I first heard about this and made the mistake of posting the information to the group. I had lots of members replying to the group that they want to reverify. This won't do anything, and chances are, you don't even need to do anything. To clear things up for those few affected, I then went to the member list in ADMIN in the group, filtered for reverification in progress (RI) and checked the top box to select all those members, then I went to the bottom of the list and selected "send message" and then sent out something ONLY TO THOSE who need to reverify. Hopefully, this will help clear things up for those who don't understand what's happening and why. Groups.io Reverification Request
This is to let you know that if you receive a request from Groups.io to reverify your membership, it's legit and not spam or phishing. If you receive one of these requests, please do the reverification.
Apparently a Groups.io email server got flagged by a spam service as sending spam. Not from our group I'm sure, but the management is randomly checking some members' accounts.? Those who receive a request and do not respond will be removed from Groups.io. Out of our 400+ members, there were only a relative few who received requests. If you didn't receive a request, you're good - don't worry about it. For those who did, you have until Feb. 11th to reverify. Sorry for any inconvenience. 73, Ed - W4ELP |
Re: W4ELP Lookup Progeram Update
Donald, I finally?did get the new version to load by finding the correct buttons to turn off in Defender.? Buz,
See if this helps: There are different instructions for Windows 11 and 10. Click on Windows 11 near the top under the Caution box and see if those directions help. You have to whitelist the program. When you install some AV programs, they will turn off Defender so that you don't have two anti-malware programs running at the same time. It's still there, just not working. So another AV program might give you the ability to turn it off and though you may get a pop-up telling you that you're not protected, you should be able to ignore that and continue, then re-enable the AV program. Is this happening after installation, or with the installer itself? If you click on that link it should give you the option to override Defender's block. If you're not seeing this, it's very strange. I've always been able to override Defender. Is it actually Defender that's blocking the program, or is it possibly an AV program doing so? Most AV programs will let you right-click on its icon in the task tray and choose to close the AV program, or allow it to stop working for a set time period, like a few minutes, or just suspend the AV program until you go back and re-enable it. Re: W4ELP Lookup Progeram Update
开云体育Ed,Yes the first time I loaded the older version on the new Windows 11 computer it gave me the option to run anyway. ?Now, it doesn’t do that and unfortunately there is no one switch to turn off Windows Defender. ?You have multiple switches and so far I haven’t found the right one that will let me load your program. ? We are having a PSK contest (160m, 80m, and 40m) this weekend and my main antenna is not working, which is my only 80m antenna. ?I will be pulling it down between rain showers to see what’s the problem. ?I spent about 3 hours up on the roof Friday repairing my Carolina 40m Windom. ?Fortunately I don’t have to get on the roof to repair the Carolina 80m Windom. ? If I have time, I will try again to load the program, I just ran out of time before the contest started and your old version is working well. ?So it’s not a big deal. ?I just thought you might have a quick solution. W4ELP Lookup Progeram Update
Hi All,
W4ELP Lookups v9.18 is posted in the Program Files section and ready for download. No big changes in this one - mostly cleaning up some minor items. Added code to gracefully exi the app by closing the Setup window. Fixed failure to create folder for S.I.G. member data when needed. Changed S.I.G. comments to not overwrite existing comments. Added code to automatically hide tabs in Logbook ALE if not the active window. Keeps it a smaller footprint on monitor. NOTE - I LIKE THIS, BUT IF IT IS A PROBLEM FOR YOU, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND I'LL MAKE IT AN OPTION OR REMOVE IT.? 73, Ed - W4ELP |
