I would be more than happy to conduct a presentation on crystal radios.

Recovering from Pneunomia and was warned that breathing toxins can scar my lungs... I am not the 1st person to complain about the smoke at VFW3115.... I had all ready made plans when Patricia called me and said the meeting would be held in the patio. I was president of the Port City Amateur Radio Club in New Hampshire during 2005... I was President 2014-2015 two terms and we had a number of activities. Other clubs I am in contact with have many activities both during meetings and at other times. There are all kinds of suggestions out there to have some sort of "event" other than a dry business meeting. I could make suggestions but I'm instead going to listen to others. All though I'm thinking some sort of kit group buy... Past 2 weeks I bought a pair of the new Baofeng AR-5RM triband HT's.. paid $53 for the pair.. Now before you click on the next message, Let me tell you I am quite impressed with theses.. and maybe this is something worth a group participation.... #1 8 watts then medium and low power #2. they cover 2 meters plus 222mhz plus 440. #3 they go beyond the ham band #4 then receive AM aircraft band #5 they have 999 channel memory.. #6 come with a standup charger and also a USB-C port on the back of the battery for charging.. Reviews are quite good... What I'm thinking is even just getting a group of us together to set up a common file of Wichita area frequencies- GMRS, Airport and other such would be fun.. then everyone can get the same programming as 999 channels is a bit of programming.. The 999 channels are not in banks or groups, but We could start with 000 for 2 meter ham, 100 for 440 ham, 200 for 222 ham, 300 for GMRS-FRS, 400 for Aircraft, 500 for commercial, 600 for Railroad, could even do 700 Kansas city, 800 Tulsa, 900 Oklahoma city.. If the group did a buy of those HT's - as mine came with 146/440 antenna but not a 220 antenna we could even design and build a triband antenna for home use..as a follow up project.. Another project - I'd even be interested in is a crystal radio and Gaylen has experience with that.. There are a number of inexpensive kits we could look into as well.. Just suggestions.. Larry W8LM |
