silvering (was Re: [VacuumX] Anybody still alive?
I tried an experiment with spray silvering vs aluminizing. The two methods seem to produce equivalent results, but you have to clean the mirror more carefully with the silvering method. Writeup is here, starting on page 2. Guy Brandenburg Washington, DC |

Re: vacuum regulator
Doesn't sound like that high of a vacuum then, but lots of variables. What's the governing metric? How precisely do you need to control? What's the limiting budget?
If vacuum level is the metric, there's a pretty good thread using an MPX5100 and an Arduino for vacuum measurement (add a ?if you need environmental feedback). Maybe couple that with a vacuum generator and a proportional solenoid valve? |
Re: vacuum regulator
This sounds like he is trying to use vacuum to pull a parabola on a sheet ..... for that to work you will need a very sensitive feedback loop that is constantly checking on temperature, local atmospheric pressure, pressure of the vacuum line, and some kind of surface profile feedback.? I tried all that a long time ago and it was just to insense for my DIY skill set.? ? As far as making a vacuum regulator, you will need to tie in something like a piriani meter or a thermocouple meter to a feedback loop that controls a calibrated leak of some kind.? The trick is that it is all temperature dependant and everything will be changing all the time.?? Drew in sunny FLA?? On Mon, Jul 27, 2020 at 1:50 PM Jacques Savard <jacquessavard@...> wrote:

开云体育I had a veeco,?I think it was a v 301 system. 16 inch diameter 36in tall Pyrex chamber. Lifter and everything. Had a lot of fun with it doing science with the neighborhood kids and making some mirrors and?other stuff. It ended up at the Naval Post Graduate school in Monterey.? What I have left is a Precision D25 pump and controller for dual TC and ionization gauges.
