To me, one would need to have RJ45 and a speaker plug running from the Digirig. I would have squelch off and the audio up per the Vara TNC.
I see a data port but from the manual, it's for Cloning.

It seems that you have found the problem area.? No PTT signal.? I don¡¯t know how the SignalLink works for PTT. ? ?Does your packet modem software use VOX or a com port? Ra board responds ra board not found. It is currently set on vox.

Then listen on the channel to see if the gateway is responding.? As others have stated, level setting is critical and only use vara narrow mode. ? ? Try opening the VARA FM modem software first before starting Winlink Express.? The observe the IQ display to see if you get a good response.? Be sure AVC is not checked in Windows audio setting for the USB signal link.

I am unable to get vara fm to work using an Alinco DR-B185 and a Signalink. The system works fine sending and receiving winlink packet. I think I have tried every setting available. Computer is a Dell Latitude 6410.
