Temu and Shein are generally garbage merchandise. There is the occasional pearl. Any clothing purchase will be met with disaster. The sized are for midgets and the material is rags. I am probably not exaggerating on this one.

Hello Dick:

TEMU is a China group similar to Amazon. Small sellers ship directly to buyers in the USA. TEMU demands low prices and minimum sales. Lost somewhat in translation TEMU stands for "Team Up, Price Down". Here is a Wikipedia link:

Some folks have had problems with quality and there are also questions of fair treatment of workers in China.

The latest news is the $800 tariff? exemption will stand for now.

Carl.

Re: drilling small holes on a unimat

The first thing to get ahead is to make sure that your facing leaves as smooth a surface with the smallest "bump".
Next, have the right sizes of center drill.? For the tiny holes being mentioned, you need center drills from 0000 to 00.
In the US, Shars Tool sells these, $8 - 9 each.

Re: drilling small holes on a unimat

It is tempting when wanting to get ahead to omit the centre drill stage, I have done that in the past and regretted it.

Re: drilling small holes on a unimat

You can also get a small chuck (looks like a Dremel chuck) with a 3mm shank and a cross hole that can be set up in the tailstock in a piece of round with a 3 mm hole to also act as a fine feed chuck.? Spot drill with a stubby screw machine drill or center drill, then switch to the hand feed chusk.? Those chucks are available from Amazon for less than $10.
If that chuck is used with a drilled guide plate, that mitigates any offsets from the threaded arbor and the spot drill puts the start on center.

Re: drilling small holes on a unimat

When saw this chuck I thinking great nice small low cost Chuck down to 0.8mm that is 0.0314" diameter.
I could miss read the data sheet at time day
?
The first had use a #80 it a pain find a chuck that work. The first was low cost it hold #80 but only for hand work. I found that said 0 to 5/32" [3.99mm] will hold #80 0.0135" [0.34mm] not cheap. Then told for just little more you can best. Back when it kill a good part of $100 bill with good shank.?
?
The #80 drill is a pain all the way around.??
1) Trying hold
2) Not bending or breaking?
3) getting started.
4) no way of sharing
But upside cheap
My solution is avoid that drill.?

I can only what use and work it holds a #80 drill bit.?
I could not till you if still true today. I purchased mine in the early 1970¡¯s and still use it today for very small drill bits. Most chucks I use today are over 40 years old and are Jacob.??
?
Do Chinese make good chunks yes but only when got machine tool and basically after retirement.? Just short term use.? But flip side when I? first I purchased low cost and did last so when had the? money I purchased Jacob chucks and very happy after over 40 years.?

FYI a Decimal Size Equivalent 0.0135"
Thd add for a Jacob's chuck is Jacobs Keyed Drill Chuck
Model #0, Taper-Mount, for 0.014" to 5/32" Bit Shank Size
?
So slightly different of 0.0005
I used my chuck to #80 drill bit is Chang in since or someone round up.

Re: drilling small holes on a unimat

The Dremel chuck has a 8mm x 0.75 thread. But other threads are available. I have a Dremelesque coreless drill bought from Aldi and that has a 7mm thread. The Dremel system also supports collets, but normally only one size is supplied. The other sizes are available yo buy via fleabay or Aliexpress. The collets work well for small size drills.

Re: drilling small holes on a unimat

Another option for holding tiny drills is a pin chuck, held in a regular chuck. I have an Eclipse one, which I have used in a Unimat and also in a bench drill. Not as good as a collet chuck, but still useful.

(Spear & Jackson own the Eclipse brand.)
