Hashtags have a section to themselves in the web interface menu - here is a screenshot of all of them for those using email only. As you can see, they aren't much used judging by the number of topics tagged with each one.

They could certainly be used more to flag that a post is about a certain model, but I suspect that folks will still wander off topic (in any possible direction!). That's certainly not unique to this forum - it happens on all the other ones I'm on as well ( and others)... irritating / annoying if you're trying to get answers, or focus on specific areas, but really just the rich tapestry of life, and the interaction of well-meaning folks. That's enough philosophising for now!
