Yes, that's one way to do it albeit with a huge disadvantage: any further adjustments will always require partly dressing the brass gibs. Dressing the gibs' mating surfaces to the level where they should be is a permanent solution.
And if and when further adjustment is needed you just turn over the gibs, evenly dress the whole side evenly or make new set.
