Ui-view and WUHU

Hello all,
I have run ui-view with WUHU and a LaCrosse ws-2812u-it weather station for 15 years with no problem.? I've always had the WX station running in ui-view with no problem.? I recently replaced the the computer and now cannot get the ui-view wx station setup.? WUHU finds the currdat.lst input file and the LaCrosse works fine.? Where do I find or how do I setup the output file that ui-view wx is looking for.? I find nothing in the computer such as wx.txt, wxnow.txt, currdat.txt etc.? Is anyone running this setup that can point me in the right direction...

Registration

Edited

Hi Does anyone know if the registration and Recovery process is still working. I went into the site and noted that email can take up to 36 hours, as yet not received. It’s many years since I used UIVEW32.exe due to serious illness but would love to get back on. Cheers.

I have just tried using the details in the registration page that was sent to me using online as the name and my callsig as my name and it still fails saying "That registration is invalid", in a UI-View32 message box.

Please advise as I am i real need to installl and re-use Ui-View32

thank you..

Re: UI-VIEW WX DATA FILE

One entry that most miss when setting up The WX Station Setup is that setting for Max age (min) must be set to zero 0. That was never fixed by Roger. He knew about it though. I still find UI-View 32 to be a super APRS program.?

The whole reason for this drill is that the author of UIview didn't want to
have to deal with the wide variety of proprietary constantly-changing

Not only are they different between manufacturers; even different models from

not want to waste all his time reverse-engineering weather-data formats for new

Thanks for that Stephen.? My LaCrosse weather station with Heavy Weather Pro only creates a file named ( currdat.lst ).? There is no window, wx, or anything similar.?? Ui-view wx file needs a ( txt ) file.? I tried WUHU and didn't produce a txt file either but still plugging away...tnx..Kerry

Second line has to following data.
Wind direction/speed
g=gust
t=temperature (in degrees F) temperatures below zero will have a - in the first position (-01 to -99)
r=rain last hour
p=rain last 24 hours
P=rain since midnight
H=humidity
b=barometric pressure in millibars

For more information look up APRS Protocol Reference, Chapter 12

I took a brief look at your software manual and did not find anything referencing the needed APRS file. But it may be worth a call to LA Cross support. I did notice there is a section on "Templates". Could a template be created to do what you need?

Since you had it working at one point there should be a way to accomplish what you need. Did you upgrade to a new version your weather station software that possibly no longer supports the APRS data format?

Hope his helps get pointed in the right direction.

WUHU/UI-VIEW

Hello All,
Still no joy on getting ui-view to connect with my wx station. WUHU is showing my station readings so the currdat- input file location is right.?? Not sure where to send the output in the wuhu setup.? I setup the wx station in ui-view but it's not showing up on the map and no details.? The wx station is a LaCrosse ws-2812u-it and it has worked well for several years until I changed computers.? Anyone have ideas or a reference to settings for wuhu or ui-view wx setup..thanks...Kerry-wa2nan

Can this VIS Reader be used as a stand-alone software solution or must it be

I too use Weather Display for my weather station using my Davis Vantage Pro2

UI-View works well with it.

I also have a weather web page, at www.dwayneyamato.com/wx/

Seems to be working well since 2004 when I moved from Illinois to Maui.

I was using Davis Vantage Pro in Illinois in the late 1990's with UI-View

upgraded to the current weather station.

Your Heavy Weather Pro software needs to create the file. I did briefly look at the HWP manual but did not find the information. However, once the file is created, you will need to know where the file is stored on your hard drive. Then in UI-View, under Setup > Wx Station Setup under the WX data file, you need to enter the path and name for the file create by HWP.

Hope this helps you get it going again.

Are you trying to decide what path to use for your outgoing beacons, or are you trying to set up a digipeater?

Looking around at other stations around you, they seem to have adopted the "new paradigm" adopted by much of the rest of the world some years ago... e.g. WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 would be an acceptable two hop path for a mobile station.

Fixed stations (and almost nothing that flies... probably not a problem there!) should not use WIDE1-1. WIDE2-1 would be a one hop path. WIDE2-2 would be a two hop path. I would recommend the shortest path that would make you visible a reasonable distance around your location. If there are any "high" WIDEn-N digis, a one hop path would make you visible for some distance.

A fixed station with a tall antenna could operate with no path. If it needed help from a digi, a one-hop WIDE2-1 could be used. A two hop path (if really needed) would be WIDE2-2.

Here, many mobile stations do just fine with a single hop of WIDE1-1. A station out in the boonies (country) might need a few more hops to reach an iGate... e.g. WIDE1-1,WIDE3-3. I wouldn't recommend this where there is dense APRS use though.

If you are trying to set up a digpeater, close UI-View and edit the file uiview32.ini. Look for the [DIGI_OPTIONS] section. Change UIFLOOD to the two letter abbreviation used there. Is it UK? Change UITRACE from TRACE to WIDE. Change WIDEN-N to TRUE. Change TRACEN-N to TRUE. Enter your call sign in SUBST_ALIAS.

The paths of WIDE, RELAY and TRACE are obsolete. We are now using WIDE1-1 and WIDEn-N. The UIFLOOD setting will allow people to use WIDE1-1,UK7-7 for emergency messages. It would be a total of 8 hops. The WIDE1-1 would make the insertion point traceable. The UK7-7 would be up to another 7 hops. It would be considered an abusive path to use this all of the time. In times of emergency, it would give users a way of spreading a message or bulletin as far as they could.

Let me know if any of my suggestions aren't suitable for operation in the UK, but the above seems to match what others around you (and much of the world) are using.
