what was old is still the king....
been years since i played around with APRS. the local club recently brought an APRS station back to life.
I started looking around for the latest software to take advantage of the newer radios and win 10 etc... found soundmodem by trying the UISS software, seems to be a good alternative to Direwolf or AFWPE. If you download the latest soundmodem version from the authors' website, I dont see the needed supported mode info....... I still have my registration info for UI-view, and I'm working on putting it all back together using a FT-991. I remember there needed to be a lot of edits affecting routing in the U.S., but cant seem to find the info. are the changes still valid? |

My suspicion would be that W11 has upped security on DDE or OLE links that transfer data between the 2 progs, so you might have to find the way to enable them. 73 Jeff G8HUL -----Original Message-----

This configuration has migrated through various computers running various versions of Windows, up through and including Windows 10. Now, along came Windows 11. UI-View installs and runs OK, but when I click the File-History/Telemetry option I get the response "Run Time Error - 214746762 (80004002) No Such Interface Supported". UI-Hist is the 32 bit version, but so, of course is UI-View which runs OK. Nevertheless, I suspect some new Windows 11 restriction on 32-bit programs. Any advice would be appreciated. I actually asked Roger to incorporate this feature. Decades ago, I was involved with an APRS tracking effort for a volunteer fire patrol and watch in the California Sierras. In addition to the mobiles transmitting their positions, I wanted a receive-only monitor position at the state fire dept HQ that ran the VIP (Volunteers In Protection) program.? Since the staff there were NOT hams, I didn't want them to inadvertently cause transmissions. Since then, I have used the RX-only mode many times at "look only" APRS demos at ham fests and radio club meetings. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stephen H. Re: Objects
K Wesolowski KD7DFV
I do this for warning sirens. Go into the program folder and copy the
objects.bin folder to somewhere like the desktop. Change the extension to (.txt). You can add objects directly to this file OR you can add your objects one by one in the program using the object editor. Either way works! Just add one object to see how the formatting is set. I had to do this for 65 sirens, so I feel your pain. Can someone help me to know how to save all the created objects and not lose them when the program is restarted. You shouldn’t be losing them. Where do you have UI-View installed? Is it somewhere other than below program files etc.? WA9AFM-10 is “beaconing” over TCPIP. I can’t tell from here if it is transmitting with no path on RF as well or not. WA9AFM appears to be a WX station also “beaconing” over TCPIP. Same comment… I can’t tell if it is on RF as well. However, there is another WA9AFM with a non-validated connection to various CWOP servers. It is at a slightly different location. Which one are you concerned about? What do you have in your station setup for the unproto port & address and the beacon interval? What do you have in the comms setup, and what do you see in the terminal screen when you “OK” your way out from it? -- 73 Keith VE7GDH “ I may be lost, but I know exactly where I am!” -- 73 Keith VE7GDH "I may be lost, but I know exactly where I am!" |
