Re: Great war wargaming

How are you for NCOs (corporals)? Might have to just use normal riflemen but I prefer my big men to have something a bit extra about them.

I got?some from gripping beast but they're a bit skinny and more lightly equipped so they don't look right.

The Great War Miniatures range is really nice but I'm always looking to source from multiple manufacturers if I can.

Cheers,
Pete

Hello everybody.?

Re: though the mud and blood

I'm very interested, I've decided to go with chain of command and the 2014 Christmas special extra rules for mine though, it's just been easier for me to find video content!

For TTMB-specific blog content I've been enjoying Sidney Roundwood's blog.

Cheers,

Hi Peter same here looking at rules, I am also looking at blood and valor from the fire lock games lads, as for figures I am using great war miniatures 28mm.

Re: CoC to IABSM

I and colleagues within ‘Like a Stone Wall’ wargames Group we’re playing BG and got fed up with the horrible inaccuracies and artillery wars being generated. We moved to IABSM two years ago and have not looked back. We play in 20mm on either 6x4 or 10x 6. For the latter we use a unit measurement of a Lard which is 1.5”. We use red/white measurement sticks for ease. The Lard allows us to keep ‘rules scale’ on the bigger table. You will find though that 6x 4 is more than adequate.

Multi rule set campaign?

I’m currently working planning a (primarily CoC) campaign, set early war , western desert, 15mm, and a little thought has crossed my mind.

There are more than two of us intending to take part in the campaign, we’re all busy preparing forces, and I know that I, for one have over prepared.

Primarily the campaign needs to be 1-on-1 CoC, and I am working on scenarios where this can work. Fringes of larger encounters etc.

There are however historical encounters too large for CoC, and it would be fun at some point to have a larger battle involving more of the players.

So, the question. Big CoC, or IABSM for larger encounters??
Reasons for either?
Any thoughts?

Definitely buy 3.? What if you want to play Big Chain of Command in the Western Desert?? You'll need a full troop of Matildas.? I'm holding out for Valentine II's because they were in service in Tunisia.

Look, I think I’m doing well to have got a Unic for one campaign!? And who knows how the Italians will fare. They now have armour supports in the form of an M13/42 (waiting for a mate to print this one off), Renault 300 (aka FT17) from Anyscale Models, an AB41, A/C and now a Semovnte. They are going to feel all spoiled.

But I feel some Infamy coming on, so does anyone know if the rules will cover the classic Late Republic armies (pre Marian reforms) with Hastati, Principes and Triarii?

Hi all, just in case you weren’t aware, Warlord has a black Friday sale on with lots of sprues 50% off, and many of their vehicles 33% off (I just picked up a Semovente and a Unic – with my Society of Ancients discount as well, it would be rude not to.

?

Very tempted by the Matilda II, but as I don’t know of any BEF figures I like, I will give that a miss. And unfortunately, it looks like the farm animals sprues disappeared ran out 30 seconds after being posted!
