Yes, otherwise you wouldn¡¯t be entitled to the out of line of sight bonus.

Greece 41 IABSM game via texting AAR

I ran my second IABSM game during the pandemic with players separated by around 500 miles. ?This game is from Chris Stoesen's Campaign for Greece 41 book and based on his Glider Assault scenario (#13)? It revolves around an Aussie attempt to keep a road open through Fallschirmjager infested territory.?
From the book: The Australian 2/6th came under assault from glider borne troops.? It was the job of the 2/6th to keep the roads open for the retreating Dominion troops.? The gliders landed close enough to the Australians that they watched them land.? The landing was so rough, they at first believed that they had crashed until the Fallschirmjagers began to exit their gliders. The Aussie player had 2 platoons while the FJ player only had 5 sections. ?I was only using a 4 X 4 space for this small game.? There was a road running diagonally across from the NE to SW mostly through the higher ground.? 5 walled farms were connected to this road
I sent some pics of the board to the 2 players, Martin (in Florida) and William (a mere 13 miles from my table) along with briefings and units.? They sent back some clear instructions on how they wanted to deploy and what they wanted their blinds to attempt.? The directions were sufficiently idiot proofed so that even I managed to send the blinds out in the correct order. ?

Dux Arda ¨C Full Faction book & cards for Wargaming Middle Earth with Dux Britanniarum

What is Dux Arda?

JRR Tolkien was a Dark Ages scholar and linguist, and in most of his works his descriptions of the various societies of Middle Earth are drawn from Dark Ages societies of Europe and the Levant (including North Africa). Many of the battles he describes are essentially warband level frays (aside from the massive wars every few thousand years) between feudal and tribal Dark Ages factions,

This makes Dux Britanniarum from Too Fat Lardies a great choice for wargaming Middle Earth.

Welcome to Dux Arda!

Dux Arda (aka Lard of the Rings) is a fan-mod originally created by Gunnar Lopez over at the War to End All Blogs, and his mad genius worked dragged me in to create all the faction cards ¨C and ultimately this Dux Arda book. Dux Arda is designed for use with use the Dux Britanniarum system from Too Fat Lardies to wargame the battles of Middle Earth. You must have Dux Britanniarum (and other referenced rules, such as Magic for Dux Britanniarum in Christmas Special 2015) to play this mod.

These files have all been collected into two definitive books, which you can link to below.

The Dux Arda: Lard of the Rings supplement adds at least eleven entirely new forces, new unit types, special rules, and a campaign system for each force. These new armies will present more variation and tactical challenges in addition to some new rules both for battles and campaigns in Tolkein¡¯s Middle Earth during the War of the Ring. This ¡°book¡± contains all the faction lists appearing during the period of the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings in the closing days of the Third Age of Middle Earth. From time to time the authors of this fan mod may issue updates and campaigns. Please feel free to create your own and let us know about them!

Re: What are you doing during lockdown ?

Being in an Essential employment, I'm not really in lockdown - off to work 5 days a week, but we are working in split shifts - I'm on 13:00 to 20:00, and manage to get home by around 20:30.

Done a little work on some tanks for CoC, but that's about all.

Seeing some pretty nice work from around the net - jealous.

Well I appreciate it! Thanks for all of this, I will be starting from scratch, I¡¯ve got some gripping beast stuff I¡¯ll have to get some LOTR minis and we will get started soon, perfect for quarantine haha. Cheers!?

Re: What are you doing during lockdown ?

Greetings

Working hard at the moment - long hours. Trying to make sure I spend some time each evening on hobby stuff unless I am on calls:

1. Building and starting to paint 1943 Eastern Front vehicles in 20mm for CoC.?

2. Prepping 1940 German schutzen for CoC.?

3. Making 28mm fantasy figures to paint up for solo games.?

4. Playing an occasional tabletop RPG via Discord (Thursday evenings going forward) ?

5. Today, playing some solo Wings of Glory WWI.?

Regards

Edwrard

Re: Dux Arda - The Corsairs of Umbar

Hey thanks so much for going out of your way I really appreciate it! This is perfect because I have a friend whose really into LOTR, and has a bunch of figs for a LOTR?RPG he plays, and this is perfect to get him into war gaming. So for the rules we just use standard Dux rules? I saw something about campaigns being different for different factions in Arda, will that just be mentioned in the faction rules I assume? Again cheers and thanks very much!?

Oh awesome thanks very much! So would I just come up with the factions and then run a standard campaign from the original rule book??
Also cards, I saw some pics of him working on them but can¡¯t seem to find them, if you could link me to where I can print or buy them that would be fantastic. This looks awesome!?

Re: What are you doing during lockdown ?

Hey John... I am a great fan of the books you have done for Nuts! I am glad that you are doing the North Africa book, I felt that was the one supplement missing for the game!!!! What you say about the campaign maps is interesting. I was always interested on playing a campaign running a tank squadron in the Western Desert... "Hell Hath No Fury" was great but very "ETO"-centric. I can only say... write faster!!!!!!! Best regards!!?

Does anyone know where to download a full Rule Set for Dux Arda? I can¡¯t find anything besides Gunnar¡¯s blog
