Re: TT4 and another device on the same radio work?

Scott,

That is a lot to unpack! I think you could get away with doing what you suggest, but it is very possible you will have distortion issues from wildly unpredictable?audio impedance mismatches, and possibly, clock noise from your DTMF device, bleeding into the audio line when the TT4 is transmitting. I think you will have to test experimentally and add audio transformers, noise suppression toroids, hot glue and finger?tip blood?etc. if it becomes necessary. My main question is this: If you are using the DTMF control ( And I am assuming it would have to be on your didgipeater's?frequency) what will the DTMF control?actually operate? Using your radio's audio, you could only turn off the radio once if it went into an unstable?state, and require a personal visit back to the mountaintop to restart it. Will you just use the DTMF control to reset the TT4, but not the radio, or have a timed ( as opposed to commanded) reset??

Now I may be biased ( Hell, I am biased!) But if the DTMF controller is going to be used to turn off and on your station when it has gone into a condition where it is hanging up, locked up, transmitting a dead carrier, etc, the receiver connected to your TT4 may or may not be available to accept commands, even if you can get clear tones on the busy APRS frequency. My bias leans me to suggest an external receiver. By a happy coincidence, we make such an animal, a 1 X 2 PCB that has a built in transceiver and DTMF decoder that can be set to any CTSS, DCS, and Frequency in the Ham band ( Or up to 174 MHZ if you are licensed to use another VHF band-note that it will only transmit tone command confirmations in the Amateur 2 meter band. It also has a lock and unlock code.? http://byonics.com/dtmf

It possible I have completely misunderstood your question, in which case...Never mind!

Subject: [TinyTrak] TT4 and another device on the same radio work?

I have a DTMF controller that replies to your commands to let you know if it did what you wanted it to do.... It has a ptt output and audio in and out.
Would it be okay to splice the audio out for replies from the dtmf controller into the TT4 audio out to radio wire?
Wondering if the audio being played on the tiny tracks audio out pin wouldn't hurt it?

And I'm assuming it would be just fine to splice the audio in from the tiny track to the controller, may require volume adjustments afterwards?

It seems like the ptt you could go to the ptt IN on the TT4 and then the tiny track wouldn't step on its transmissions correct???

Working on building a mnt top digi , but don't want to have to have a whole another radio just for the DTMF controller.

Thanks
