Looking at the area in which Howard resides, I don't think he is going to cause much trouble to anyone with an I-gate of either flavor, and/or a digipeater. He lives in a lonely APRS world!

It's when you want to gate "other" packets from the APRS-IS to RF
that it can get quickly out of hand.

Lynn ¨C understood. I am living in an area where there are no
digipeaters or iGates so thought I would try setting up an
RF<->IS iGate to get some coverage in this area. I
will drop that idea but look at setting up a plain
digipeater.

The only packets that APRSIS32 will
forward from -IS to RF by default is messages addressed to
stations that have been heard on the RF port within the past
30 minutes and within 2 hops.? Gating arbitrary packets from
-IS to RF is an advanced configuration that requires the
development version (see Wiki for details), some very
careful consideration about what you are trying to
accomplish, and very custom, non-persistent, configuration.
? You might want to take this discussion to the aprsisce
group for more detail.
?
But when you get to needing to tune the
receive (RXAMP) on the TinyTrak4, you'd be better off asking
that here.
