Need Tunnel Diode for 547
Hi, I am trying to bring my 547 back to life. It looks like the B trigger circuit has a bad tunnel diode. Where can I get ahold of this beastie ? Thanks, Terry, AB4UM

"Bookmarks" at the Yahoo site
One of the features of the TekScopes site at YahooGroups is a "Bookmarks" section, where we can enter web links of interest. Walter has already put his site address there. Anyone else with a Tek-related site -- feel free to put yours there too! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TekScopes/links ----------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Dunn | Surround Sound Decoder & Stereo Enhancer Cantares | Self-Amplified Speakers, Test Equipment 74 George St. | Ambisonic Surround Sound CDs and Recording Waterloo, Ont. | (519) 744-9395 (fax: 744-7129) N2J 1K7 | mdunn@... [Fwd: [JN] Nu Vistas : 7587]
This is from a post on Joelist (a vacuum tube audio mailing list). I don't know the mailer or the tube dealer. If 7587 Nuvistors are useful in any Tek stuff (it seems like I remeber this number), this might be a usable source. -- Dan Kerl dlkerl@...

New group features
As some of you already know, eGroups has now been folded into the Yahoo groups family. If you're solely an e-mail user, don't worry, you don't have to change anything. If you use the web site, you'll probably need to do some housekeeping next time you connect. It's not TOO painful. The good news is, there are some new and useful web features: 1. When looking at the message list, you can expand it to show the full text of messages, not just the headings. Almost as good as an archive, which unfortunately is still absent. You can select how many messages are displayed in your preferences. 2. Even better, there's now a search function (I guess eGroups had something too, but it didn't seem to work very well if I recall). Type in a search term (e.g., Vineland, MkIV, SQ, 549 :-), and up pops a message list with all messages containing the term... Big Tek parts Index is on line now 3
We finally organized and posted all our Tek semiconductors, along with cross ref data, and they are now on line here: http://www.sphere.bc.ca/test/tekparts.html we will keep adding more parts categories, like controls, knobs, etc. as time permits. hope this is helpful to everybody. we will keep adding more cross-ref data for those who just need to know what is what, and can get the parts locally. all the best, walter

CRT Required For Sony/Tek 336 scope
I'm trying to locate a CRT to repair my Sony/Tek scope. The Part No. is 154-0866-00. I'm willing to pay a reasonable price for one. I would also consider purchasing a dead or near dead 336 scope to salvage the CRT for my unit. Regards Rob.

Cap source "7633" 2
Looking for a source for the Sprague 68D series caps used on the rectifier board of the 7633. Apparently Mallory made a cross at one time. I need the 9600uf for sure. I suspect there will be others one I get the board out. Thanks, Rick

Camera Frame Adapters!
Anyone have or know where I might be able to get one or both frame adapters to adapt to my C30 camera: A 016-0269-02 for a TEK 475A to C30 and/or a 016-0248-00 for 7000 series to C30. Thanks in advance!! Don

Sick 7704A
Hi, I just bought a 7704A which works, but poorly. It only has a bandwidth of 170MHz and the tube blooms badly at a low intensity. It looks like it needs a new tube but does anyone know whether a weak tube affects the bandwidth, or do I have other problems? My other 7704A was tested at the same time and had a 240MHz bandwidth. Is there a source for replacement tubes? Can someone give me a few hints. Just a small thing. I have a number of TM500 modules with broken plastic edges which look ugly. I have started to fix them by cutting a section from the hood of a DB25 connector with a matching color. Glue it in place with cyanoacrylate plastic cement and the device looks good again. Tek HV parts (570) 4
My Tek model 570 vacuum tube curve tracer seems to have lost the ability to keep the high voltage running. When it is first powered on, I get a nice trace, but the HV oscillator tube (6AQ5) looks like it's really unhappy about it. In a minute or so, the high voltage goes away with the usual dim expanding trace. I've replaced the tubes, and don't see anywhere the supply is overloaded, so I'm guessing a failed capacitor or shorted turn in the transformer. Anyone know where to get small quantities of the 1,2,3, and 4 kilovolt capacitors? I've found about half of them, a couple apiece at five different vendors (I'd end up spending 10 times more in shipping than in parts). Are some capacitors more likely to fail than others? I don't have a high voltage capacitor tester, though I plan to go through it with the one I do have if I can't just replace 'em all. And if I'm really unlucky, anyone know where I can obtain a replacement HV transformer? Failing all the above, can anyone recommend a place to have classic Tek gear repaired? -- Thanks, John Rehwinkel spam@...

Mod 3 cart scope lock down assembly
I am looking for the 'lock down assembly' for a TEK MOD-3 scope mobile cart. I am using a TEK R217 rack cart and would like to mount a lock down for my 7904. Anyone have a spare or any idea where I might find one. Thanks, Don

What to do with a pile of 7A16P's? CADC?
Strip off any easily strippable parts, hardware, knobs, etc, and sell grab bags of Tek parts. Tempting :-) Could you post a rough list of 7000 modules...? Any particularly "interesting" ones? (7C,D,L,M,Snn) BTW, is the 5000 series a successor to the 7000, or concurrent? What's the difference? I'm quite amazed at the tube/SS overlap - the 7000 series started to happen in the late 60s, yet tube units were produced till perhaps 1973(?). Semi-related question for Canadians out there: Anyone know if CADC (Crown Assets Disposal Corp) or a successor is still in operation? I used to get all sorts of interesting junk through them. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Dunn | Surround Sound Decoder & Stereo Enhancement Cantares | Self-Amplified Speakers, Test Equipment 74 George St. | Ambisonic Surround Sound CDs and Recording Waterloo, Ont. | (519) 744-9395 (fax: 744-7129) N2J 1K7 | mdunn@... What to do with a pile of 7A16P's?
We have a pile of 7A16P's, the programmable version of the 7A16, used in waveform digitizers like the 7912D and 7612AD. Unfortunately, we have no digitizers, so these are worthless to us, and do NOT work in regular frames. Rats. Other than landfill, any suggestions? Note that we have lots of other mor useful Tek items, parts and CRTs on our website here: http://www.sphere.bc.ca/test/index.html Also have about 150 pounds of partial and failed 5K/7K plug ins we are scrapping. Free to anybody that wants to pay the freight. We are also looking for CRT's, nixie tubes and HP repair parts. all the best, walter walter2@...

Tek 7B87 Question 3
I know the 7B87 plug in is designed to support the features of the 7854 frame, but can it be used in a 7904 frame, or is it strictly for the 7854 frame? Thanks, Don

FS/For Trash? Type 502 Dual Beam Oscilloscope 4
Hello, I just rescued an old 502 Dual Beam Oscilloscope that was about to be thrown out, tubes and all. It is in slightly beat up shape. I am wondering if it would have any value to anyone here, or should I just trash it? What do you think I could I get for this thing on ebay?

Hello everyone @ tekscopes 5
I have been looking for other fans of vintage tektronix stuff for ages! I have an old 545b unit with ca dual trace plug in module, but I have a few problems with it & have not been able to find a service manual. I am a sound engineer from the U.K & no one seems to know much about old tek gear (including tektronix U.K)! So if any of you guys could lead me to any technical data or service manuals, it would be most helpful. I checked out the SND tube sales site the other day & discovered that Tektronix used to make a valve curve tracer (the 570). I do quite a lot of work on old valve equipment, (usually fixing guitar amps for friends) & it would be great to test the valves I have to see how well they match. Many amps that come in have an assortment of valves where one has been replaced when it has finally expired instead of a new matched set being fitted. Thanks to stefan for the T & M museum, theres some useful & interesting stuff in there, & I enjoyed looking through the exhibits. Bye for now, I shall log on again soon!
