Is that also an issue with the TDS350?
I've got one I picked up recently as a fixer, but turned out to work perfectly -- after correcting the most dire mess of badly-replaced ventilation fan that I'd ever seen; a cesspit of badly stripped, badly spliced, and appallingly electrician's-taped horror.
I know the NVRAM unit will probably have battery failure before too long and I'm gearing up for that (will get an appropriate PROM burner, etc.) but are there other lurking nasties?

Normally I am in favor of the saying "If ain't broken don't fix it" which would agree with some earlier posts here. However in this case of SMD elyts on early TDS500 and 600 they must all be replaced ASAP. If they haven't already leaked they will and when they do the electrolytic will cause a lot of various problems like etching away circuit board runs or creeping in under SMD IC's, resistors or caps causing shorts. They are all over the place, also on the front panel and CPU boards.
