Re: 2465 Calibration
Okay, I looked up some stuff in my long forgotten transmission lines book from college. To match impedances, the source resistance must also be 50 Ohms, in series, to match the cable and the 2465

Re: 2465 Calibration
In a quibbling mood I might point out that DC is frequently defined as "current flowing in one direction" without implying a fixed potential :) --T

Re: 2465 Calibration
I've taken a low quality video of the screen as I use the test routine to step through the values. If the EAROM? ever fails, I'll dig out the video and transcribe the values. I would look at seeing

Re: 2465 Calibration
In a cocky mood I'd say a DC level is not a signal; it contains no information. Switching a DC level on or off however is. Raymond

Re: 2465 Calibration
Do you have any advice on backing up the EAROM in a 2465? I'm assuming it's easy enough if the scope has a GPIB interface (mine doesnt), but I'm not sure my ancient Data IO programmer knows about

2232 Scope; What am I seeing?
Picked up a 2232 scope recently at a Club auction. Pulling it from the case I found the J9011 connector broken and the eight wires to it dangling. As was suggested in the Group I hard wired the eight

Re: Leo Bodner Fast Rise Pulse Generator for 453 & 547?
I tried mine on a 2815 (like a 2225) 50MHz without and with a 50 ohm feedthru at .05uS each pulse is about 1 div spaced by 1 div not a perfect square wave but pretty close at that speed, fastest on

Re: DM501A Input Leakage Source
Stephen, Yes, I did some of that while trying to identify the source in mine. I thereby managed to determine fairly conclusively that the leakage in mine is within the switch array, rather than on the

Re: 2465 Calibration
Also correct. The procedure calls out 50 Ohm BNC Cables not a 50 Ohm Termination. Ross

Re: 2465 Calibration
And even if the output were a current-mode amp with a 50 ohm termination, you¡¯d still see a factor of 2 reduction with another 50 ohms loading it. Something about Thevenin or parallel resistors or

Re: 2465 Calibration
The generator establishes its output resistance using a series 50 ohm resistor, not in parallel. The output amp is voltage mode and designed to have a very low output Z, as any other voltage source.

Re: 2465 Calibration
A few other comments... Calibrating the 2400 Series Oscilloscopes is a manual, tedious process. It can be very frustrating especially if you don't have the equipment called out in the Calibration

Re: Need Help With Tek 453 Weird Problem
But did you measure the ripple? It's EASY to do with your DVM: Just switch to ACV So, check the voltage with the DVM set to DCV, then switch to ACV and you've got the ripple. Your DVM probably won't

Re: 2465 Calibration
Well I really messed up the vertical calibration today after getting limit errors on all the ranges. But I figured out the problem. My signal generator output was only 1/2 of what it was supposed to

Re: 2465 blower
It's painful but you can rebuild the Siemens motors. You have to unwind them to get at the bearings which is a massive pain and when reassembling take great care of the fragile hall effect sensors.

Re: 2465 tube & focus question
Just bought the Kitsune-Denshi Battery Kit anyway. It's a good investment. I really like the portability of the Oscilloscope and it works well for that. Ross

Re: 2465 tube & focus question
You make mention that the Tek 222 Digital Oscilloscope is isolated. That is correct and the AC-to DC Adapter provides pretty good Isolation as well. I have used the 222 Oscilloscope many times in high

Finally got around to working on this some more after a very busy work week. Yes, the noise was there full time, you could kinda see it on the waveforms a little bit when not in x10 mode, was most

Re: 2465 tube & focus question
Sorry should have said UK. That's a good point! I still like the old phosphor scopes. I used a 465 for a long time and them moved to the more versatile 2465 after a try with HP scopes which I didn't
