Re: Type J plugin?
Nope; this is definitely a letter series-type plugin.? It looks like it was the predecessor to the 1A(1,2) plugins. ? -Dave

fan blade / attachment assembly for 2465?
Hi,
wondering if anyone knows where I might get a replacement fan blade & its little expanding screw attachment doohickey for a 2465. I got a dead 2465 some months ago and nursed it back to health* but a former owner had badly damaged the fan blade assembly¡ If it's not possible to track down an original fan blade / attachment bit, are there any recommendations on replacing the fan? Specifically looking for suggestions for how to properly get the fan speed dialed in for proper temperature control, or at least how to make sure the scope is getting properly cooled¡ Thanks! -Tymm * scope would power on, but with no display. recapping the power supply board brought it up to basic service, though the readout was then flakey and mostly appeared as little bits of snow. Replacing a 74-series chip (don't remember which one) on the display board fixed that. |

Wow.? That is a huge project for most people. And very small SMD soldering for a device that goes into... a large metal case! I smell a chip manufacturer-promiting article... Nonetheless, nice new ideas WRST triac as circuit-breaker, etc. Thanks, Dave -=-=-=- On 23 January 2013, at 11:19 PM, Carlos Urbina Pacheco wrote: [Attachment(s)?from Carlos Urbina Pacheco included below]? |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThank you for sharing this, Carlos.
I've worked in a similar direction and developed a concept for a more
comprehensive implementation of microprocessor control - though with somewhat
different focus. But, who wants a $5000 variac; parts lists are extensive (read
expensive) and, talk about time consuming... Any mircroprocessor
expert?wanna pitch in?
?
This article adds features I had not considered... very good food for
thought, indeed...if, perhaps, little else?

Re: Variac's [1 Attachment]
That's quite a sophisticated circuit, but it left out some important functions. First, there is apparently no protection of the variac wiper - there should always be a fuse or breaker right there, rated at the maximum output current of the variac. Second, never trust a thyristor to be the only disconnect element in a critical power circuit - it should be backed by a mechanical relay tripped from the same signal, or at least be fused at the maximum output rating. It does not appear to have any other safety backup in the triac circuit. Using a fuse on the variac wiper would help this issue too. The mains circuit breaker alone can not protect the variac or the output circuit from excessive current.

Any variac wiper should be protected in almost any application, but especially for this kind, that has a wide range of operating conditions and possible faults. If you put the wiper fuse holder on the front panel, it also allows you to easily adapt it for different situations by having an assortment of fuse sizes on hand to install in the holder - as long as you remember. It can also be backed by an additional series fuse rated at the maximum wiper current, inside or on the back, in case you put too big a fuse in the front. I would trust this old-school approach more than a home-made electronic circuit breaker. Ed --- In TekScopes@..., "Tom Jobe" wrote:

WANT 7K / tm500 plugin cases..7514 crt
Hi,
I am looking for scrap 7k and TM500 plugins. I need the frame components including the rails, sides, front panel, rear bracket. I do not need the boards or knobs etc. I prefer quantities of 2 or more but will talk. No double wide wanted. Please contact me off-list j_massengale@... Jerry Massengale
PS I need a CRT for a 7514 mainframe 154-0622-00. Would consider 7514 donor unit. |

He/she probably gave up after smoking the other resistor. Doesn't explain the two 3 amp slo-blo fuses though. ;-) Mark On 01/23/2013 08:52 PM, Peter Gottlieb wrote:

It's like the SC504 From Hell I have. I finally gave up on it, after finding something different not working each time I fired it up. It's know a parts pig. I swear someone picked up a bunch of bad boards, found a frame and a CRT, lashed it all up, and sent it on it's merry way.

Has anyone ever heard of the Type J plugin? I was paging through an oldwas a 4 page spec for the 647 scope, which did make it to production, but thesecond was a one page spec for the Type J, which doesn't appear on any of theusual lists and repositories. Did it ever get past the prototype stage? It'sdual trace, 35Mhz, 5 to 20 mV.Listed in here ent_Catalog_1969-12_%234.pdf . It was a Telequipment plugin. Craig |
