Re: International mail rates USA -> China?
This is interesting. With my small business, I've shipped lots of packages around the world; the vast majority of customers choose First Class because it's cheapest (these packages are 2-6 ounces

Re: 475 progress but another road-block
I checked the triggering section some more and it seems to work as I would expect. Setting it to normal and adjusting the trigger point does change what I see on the screen (I just have to hold the

Re: Need part 2232 CRT and source for a tube - update
No Mark, I did not get photos yet. I still need to open it up when I run through the calibration and will take a few photos then.
I did put up a shot of the defect in the CRT.
Regards,
Tom

Re: International mail rates USA -> China?
My business (in Israel) is geared to repairing PCB's (as opposed to complete machines) from customers all over the world. PCB's are light, can be properly packaged to survive attempts to damage them,

Re: 475 Triggering Issue -- Expanded to trigger ckt.s in general.
There is no two terminal replacement circuit for a tunnel diode which
could come even close to their switching speed. As far as I know, all
later Tektronix trigger circuits used integrated

Re: 475 Triggering Issue -- Will recent 468 Triggering Issue Thread Help Me?
I am not exactly sure when Tektronix started using tunnel diodes but
the 545 lacks them while the 547 has them which explains the later's
outstanding triggering bandwidth. It may be that they had the

Amazing!?
Tunnel diodes in a 561A!
Tek must have started using tunnel diodes shortly after they came out in 1960. Leave it to Tek to go with bleeding edge esoteric. Since I'm a rather low budget

Sorry to jump in with questions on another person's original.I did change
the subject line so to not dilute the original thread.
I have not seen anyone suggest putting together a trigger

Re: 475 Triggering Issue -- Will recent 468 Triggering Issue Thread Help Me?
I think the TD is the problem. I got a similar problem in my 3B4 plugin.
Try to detach one terminal of the TD CR566 (using adequate protection against heating, like a pliers) and check if the

Hi Stan,
It's up to you and your wallet as to picking up a spare set of tunnel diodes. For me, it seems that parts 475 scopes are available at good prices. Since there are four TDs in each scope,

You need to find another post office. The clerks at some of the big, busy ones don't like it when you "waste" their time getting acceptance scans and a receipt, since you could just drop them in the

Re: 475 Triggering Issue -- Will recent 468 Triggering Issue Thread Help Me?
I used the same military manual from Bama.
I had two reasons not to suggest that the tunnel diodes are the
problem:
1. The common failure point for the symptoms does not implicate the
tunnel diode

Well, at least I started diagnosing on the correct page this time. :)

wrong with a 7T11.
I have had problems with the board to board

I will gladly avoid touching the tunnel diodes, and will start with David's suggestion. The only service manuals I have are from BAMA, which are the Army TM--- model manuals. Will these
