Re: 067-0525-02 Calibration fixture

Hi Colin,
Tek made at least two versions of this which are different only in their overall length.
I do not know the part number for the two different lengths but I doubt it matters. The important thing is the length match between each leg.
I have one that is 8" long and two that are 16" long. I can spare one of my 16" ones. If this is the one you are looking contact me off list at dennis@.... Don't include "TekScopes" in the subject or your mail will be put into a folder where I might miss it.

Does anyone have one of these to sell or give away? It is a dual BNC
adapter having two BNC male connectors with one female. The RG 58
tails of the BNC male connectors are matched to less than 0.1". Two of
these are used for checking the triggering on 400-series scopes and I
only have one. I tried to purchase one a few months ago for a website,
but nothing turned up...
Please don't suggest alternatives as I simply want another one of
these things.
Colin.

Funny stuff. I made an order paid almost what you are seeing. I thought there is no way it was for a single fuse. I figured it had to be a pack... Nope one fuse wrapped in bubble wrap. I wont be doing that again.

Actually, I think it is, because Simple Green was pretty
thoroughly discussed here, pro and con, for cleaning tektronix
equipment.

I'm pretty sure it would take an extreme effort, and some legal
challenge to get the manufacturer to discuss this beyond, don't
use out dated product.

Hi folks,
This is a bit off-topic, but I know we're discussed the cleaner
"Simple Green" here in the context of using it (or preferably, NOT
using it to clean equipment), but does anyone know what it's made of?
More to my point, I vaguely recall that it was indeed green when I
bought it but I just took out the spray bottle to clean something off
my car and it is most definitely NOT green, but a rotten grass color
brown. I presume it is decomposing. Has anyone else noticed
this? It makes me wonder what it decomposes to and if that increases
the likelihood of hidden corrosion if it gets into crevices in
equipment.

Re: Simple Green composition/decomposition

The MSDS is here:

They claim that it is non reactive and chemically stable.
It is for water tolerant surfaces and should be rinsed.
Probably due to the citric acid.

465 missing HV

I bought a 465 for cheap. No trace. Got it home and there is no HV at the -2450 TP. Is it time to start pulling multiplier ground to see if the trace comes back? Fuses don't blow, LV TPs' check fine. No fan, no power light but I do get the un-calibrated lights when turning the variable pots. I was/am hoping to fix this to help fund a working 7a11 for my 7633. Thanks guys

Re: PG502 Failure points?

The MC1660L is in the MECL-III family. The 10H family was available at the same time but the parts were generally slower. If you substitute you may find performance differences, either a longer minimum pulse or some issue related to slightly longer propagation delays. MECL-III was only small-scale-integration in my memory and used more power. Motorola later introduced the 10KH family which was faster than 10H, but these were troublesome to use for most people because of their tendency to oscillate with anything other than a flawless layout.

When you ship this (to whoever wins the auction), please put a cheap SMA cap, or cheap 50-ohm load on the input. These travelling wave gate samplers are exceptionally static sensitive. My S4, S6 and S52 all do, as a matter of course, when they are not being used.

There is also a Tek applications note 42W-5850 which specifically talks about the S4 and S6 heads.

I did cut thru the casing and solder wires to an external battery, read and wrote to new chips and replaced them in zif sockets. When I started it up it was as good as new, no errors and all functions worked. I checked it for calibration and its spot on. You wont find cheaper dallas chips than these in the link and mine were both 2015 date code. I have a bunch of chips that I was trying to find a suitable replacement and I settled on the m48 chip for the ease of getting a separate battery to power it. I really didn¡¯t need to go as far as I did the 1230¡¯s would have been ok but you waste a good memory chip for a dead battery. Also I have a brand new pair of these same chip as ths soic but it is a dip style case with built in battery.

Re: PG502 Failure points?

Plessy was one of many 'second source' suppliers for the Motorola designs which is common in the industry. That was done to insure a reasonable supply, in case the first company couldn't meet the demand, or went out of business. The MC10109 (Page 39) is supposed to be pin compatible, and are available on Ebay, cheap. They may, or may not work in this design, but if they do they would be a drop in replacement.

There is an original MC1660L on Ebay:

Michael,

The Plessey and Motorola are interchangeable, according to Tektronix. I think I found a couple of SMD chips that just might work on a hybrid board. Designing the board now and doing more research on the logic gates that are available now.

Re: PG502 Failure points?

You may want to look at the more modern 10H series ECL family and see if you can find the equivalent gate in DIP - it may need some pinout tweaking though.
