Re: 7587 Nuvistor Tetrode Substitutions in the Tektronix 184 Time-Mark Generator
Change the 125 volt plate supply on the switch to 12 volts. Leave the screen open, it's not needed. Just put a pair of RF N-Ch e-mode fets to the plate, grid, and cathode and tune away. Pick a fet

Re: Tek 154-0812-00 Storage CRT
I was able to repair a problem like that once by using the HV supply from an old 13" color TV. I was careful to position the CRT so that the detached strap would fall in the right direction when it

Re: 7587 Nuvistor Tetrode Substitutions in the Tektronix 184 Time-Mark Generator
I should have linked this in my original post. Here is a cleaned up copy of the 184 schematics that I made when I printed them out. The tetrodes are all on schematic 1:

Re: Troubleshooting 7603 High Voltage board
Bob, My Q1216/Q1218 are overheating. Looking at the Diagram from your website, the 15.7 ohm resistor was added to the Q1216/Q1218 loop. I am in "first grade" electronics, lacking some elementary

Re: 2246 Mod A - Is it OK to replace just one SMPS switching transistor?
It's probably best to use at least the same type of transistor in both spots - they don't need to be matched closely, but may cause problems if way different. Also, when one is shot, it's possible the

Re: 7587 Nuvistor Tetrode Substitutions in the Tektronix 184 Time-Mark Generator
I'm not familiar with the 184, but it seems that for a 500 MHz type circuit, it's low-Z RF anyway, so you could probably design in some bipolar transistor circuits to replace the tubes, with new bias

Re: 2246 Mod A - Is it OK to replace just one SMPS switching transistor?
On my 2246 ModA, I first thought that both inverter switching transistors Q 2009 and Q 2010 are fried, but it looks like one is fine after I removed the obviously shorted device. Since I am using an

2465B auto measurment error
I posted a few months ago on this scope. I was not able to get this resolved at the time and got busy on other projects. I want to take a fresh look at it now. Here is an example of what I am seeing.

Re: Tek 154-0812-00 Storage CRT
Take a look at the edited pic I uploaded. A 1/8 gap most likely can't be cured. This is definitely a warranty repair :).

Re: Front panel layout software ( related to PCB )
I've never heard of FrontDesigner, but "Front Panel Designer" is free from www.frontpanelexpress.com. It's pretty nice. It's intended as a front end to their proprietary panel-fabrication service,

7587 Nuvistor Tetrode Substitutions in the Tektronix 184 Time-Mark Generator
I have a mostly functional Tektronix 184 Time-Mark Generator that I am restoring. It has six 7587 nuvistor tetrodes and they all appear to work except for maybe the pair in the 500 MHz multiplier. You

Re: Tek 154-0812-00 Storage CRT

Re: Tek 154-0812-00 Storage CRT
Can you put a circle around where you think it is open? The strap just appears to be a support for the glass rod. Do you have any kind of a HV spark generator that you could connect across the heater

Oh yes, the disposable flash cameras will make 350 volts from one or two AA batteries. Good thought. You get the free capacitor also.

Re: Troubleshooting 7603 High Voltage board
There is another TO-3 in the HV/Z-Axis, at least there was with the OS254P/U (military version). I do know the Z axis is different to the civilian version, so maybe the transistor is not there, but I
