Re: How to clean the finger contacts on an SG503
Interesting, I wonder why that is? Obviously contact cleaner wouldn't be a great idea for these type of contacts but I'm curious why paper wouldn't be recommended. Too abrasive?

Re: How to clean the finger contacts on an SG503
I can't answer that question (I'm sure others can), but ISTR that the paper cleaning method should not be used on some TM-5xx(x) plug-ins. DaveD KC0WJN [email protected]> wrote:

Re: How to clean the finger contacts on an SG503
A question for the next time I need to clean Tek finger contacts, is there a recommended 'type' or thickness of paper to clean the contacts? I used whatever garden variety paper that I had on my bench

Re: How to clean the finger contacts on an SG503
Alright, I answered my own question. It looks like you can easily get at the finger contacts from the side of the switch that is next to the big vari cap. I was easily able to get a piece of paper

Re: How to clean the finger contacts on an SG503
Looking at the service manual, it looks like the fingers on the cam side would be in the open position between switch detents. I'm thinking I can carefully slide a piece of paper in between the

How to clean the finger contacts on an SG503
I've got an SG503 on my bench that seems to be working fine on all ranges with nice leveled output, etc. However, the finger contacts under the cam switch need to be cleaned as I have to fiddle with

Re: MSO4104 Problems
Hi Hakan Thanks for uploading these files. I had to get them via my ipad as my PC wouldn't let me download them. So I did it via icloud (never used icloud before). This worked fine. Thanks

Re: MSO4104 Problems
Also, if anyone can download FW versions 2.62 and 2.68 for me that would be great. I've tried registering with Tek on their website but the registration process turns into a confusing mess with lots

MSO4104 Problems
Hi. I've got a faulty MSO4104 here (not the B version) and it has a bit of a history. Someone at work blew up channel 1 on the 1Meg input many years ago but the scope was still useful on the other

Re: Tektronix 547 Lack of Sweep or Intensity Control
Thanks very much, Deon. I will definitely check those components and let you know. The experience of group members here is very much appreciated! Gordon

Re: Tektronix 547 Lack of Sweep or Intensity Control
Check D831 which is decoupled 350V to the unblanking circuit. If it's gone short then that may explain the lack of intensity control and may backfeed to V393 and V193 causing the sweep to not start as

Re: Damaged 3A3 with Unusual 6DJ8
Hi Jim, Quite a bit of vacuum tube tooling was sold of and moved to Japan in the 1970's and 80's, including I believe many small signal pentodes and dual triodes like the 6DJ8. That U.S. built

Re: Damaged 3A3 with Unusual 6DJ8
Unfortunately 6DJ8s have gotten horribly expensive because people who think they are audiophiles (but who lack the requisite theory) have been buying them up to use as audio amps, and then sometimes

Re: Damaged 3A3 with Unusual 6DJ8
Okay, then it appears that by this time Tek had given up on trying to provide the same careful spares that they used to provide. In this case, I'm glad that this is the tube that was destroyed. --

Re: Tektronix 547 Lack of Sweep or Intensity Control
Gordon, You could have the black slick slime that is on the ceramic part of the funnel on the crt. I have seen this before. That will cause a leakage path and possibly corona. Clean the high voltage
