Re: Tek 2235 with long persistence orange screen and unknown opt 76
The Keller book (rev.1991, pg 17) indeed describes the exact technique as used in my scope, even the amber filter. I wonder what P7 does to the writing speed. At 50 Hz trigger and 100ns/div the trace

Re: 2465B hybrid cleaning?
Dear Chuck: Great advise again! Will try with ISO Alcohol, and order the Deoxit liquid. By the way, Amazon has some 99% isopropyl alcohol in gallons or as smaller bottles, ~ 25-30$/gallon.

Re: [dead tek 485] Can i fix it ? (newbie here)
Jose, I am not that familiar with the inside of a 485 as mine is purring along just fine. I am still interested in anything that relates to the 485, none the less. One thing that I know about the

Re: 549 transformer question
This just sorta screams of a software bug or a register crash in the arduino. I gave up on those years ago, when F4 procs are under US

Re: 2465B hybrid cleaning?
IPA should be fine, use cotton swab with a little gentle rubbing on the hybrid side, and wiping the contact springs towards their open ends, on the socket side. The red DeOxit, in the small squeeze

Re: 2235 Horizontal Calibration Issue
Hi Stephen, You are right. My schematic scan is so fuzzy I can't tell the last number but part list is much cleaner and it is actually VR749. VR749 is the suspected zener diode. Before removing it I

Voltage Range Switches. I have repaired both voltage switches some time ago.? I will send pictures to io groups by Friday as I have to search for them.? A metal washer, three stainless (could be any

Re: 2465B hybrid cleaning?
Chuck WOW your are as always the authority on TEK! Perfect notes, I suspect U500 has a slightly flaky connection, as pressing the HS seems to affect the symptom. I have no Deoxit, just MS-230

Re: [dead tek 485] Can i fix it ? (newbie here)
Hi Michael, welcome on this newbie journey ! ;o) Grid Bias pot makes voltage wary between 79V and 119V at C1660 cap so I assume the pot is ok ! am I right ? I should check CR1660 from CRT circuit

Re: 549 transformer question
Computers didn't exist in that form in the 1940's. They used one of the many motor driven manually operated cam winding machines that used to be available. My automation attempts are to make the

Re: [dead tek 485] Can i fix it ? (newbie here)
Jose, I had a 475 that had a similar intermittent intensity problem. It would run great for a while, then the intensity would go "out of control"; you might turn it off and back on and it would be

Re: 2465B hybrid cleaning?
Hi Jon, I clean the hybrids in the 2465 by using a drop of DeOxit on each pad on the hybrid. Avoid a flood. Usually, I find that hybrids that seem to need cleaning are just bad. When re installing

Re: [dead tek 485] Can i fix it ? (newbie here)
Jose, That is also similar to what the 465/475 does when the DC restorer diodes fail. The diodes are subject to leakage and the intensity cannot be adjusted properly. Also note that the focus and

Hi Eric, Thank you for your reply. I have two questions: 1 - Would you please expand on how can I initiate the utility form the utility menu? 2 - The led on my floppy just stay on for a brief period

The only thing I'd worry about with the LI cell would be the hash from the stepup converter.? You can get a small charging board (or a cell holder/voltage output/charger board in one unit, 5 volts,

Hi Jose, It definitely should, so now I would check the Grid Bias potmeter, and adjacent resistors. Leo

Leo Tweaking R1660 - Grid bias - has no impact on brightness of the spot / trace.

Re: [dead tek 485] Can i fix it ? (newbie here)
Hi Jose, This is typical for a too high brightness. I would tweak the Grid Bias down and see what happens. Leo
