Re: 5xx 'Scopes
Chuck comments reminded me that I forgot to mention one other intriguing possibility since you have a 7104: Get yourself a 519. This was the original, and first ever, 1GHz scope Tek made. It make a

Re: 5xx 'Scopes
If you want heat, the 547 is a poor choice, being mostly solid state. Better would be a 535, 535A, 545, 545A, 585, or 585A. Nice long vacuum tube distributed vertical amplifiers... If you are a true

Re: 5xx 'Scopes
Hi Sean, The 547 is a beautiful scope and it marked the transition to semiconductors at Tek. It is easily my favorite in the 500 series. But there is another scope to consider. Have you considered the

Re: 7104 SMPS no start troubleshooting
Hi Alberto, I actually got it working (was a dumb short to the chassis caused by that resistor under the fan), but I'd be interested in seeing your numbers just as a data point for future reference.

Re: 7104 SMPS no start troubleshooting
Or someone at the auction preview decided to monkey with it, knowing it would cause a short and make it seem like the scope is dead. Either way, it's working now. Sean

5xx 'Scopes
Hi all, Getting the 7104 has gotten me thinking again, I've always wanted one nice example of a classic 5xx series scope. Ideally in good shape, so I can use it as a lab heater in the winter. :o) I'm

Re: Is an early 7A26 a keeper?
It seems however that the 7A26 change is from -05 to -07 at S/N B208880. Jim Ford mentions a 20 pF plugin B19xxxx and a 22 pF plugin B21xxxx. I have S/N B198122 and B171610, both 20 pF and board

Re: 465 knob 366-1280-00 (trigger level) wanted
Nigel, I _do_ have one of these, but are you aware that they are also available, new and used, from Qservice for $US 7.98/$US 6.50? For orders below 40.00$ shipping is flat 9.00 USD to all

465 knob 366-1280-00 (trigger level) wanted
Any chance anybody in the UK has a spare one of these? I can buy some from the US at a reasonable price on eBay but the postage and import charges at both ends plus UK Post Office "handling" fees make

When in doubt just ask the seller selling the adapter board, they will see if they can make a version of this board that accepts snap on capacitors

Re: General Radio 874 Connector, inner conductor "bendies"
Because I own a number of GR instruments that use 874 output connectors I have many 874 cables as well as many GR between-series adapters to adapt 874 to BNC, N, PL-259/SO-239, and a few others. --

Re: General Radio 874 Connector, inner conductor "bendies"
Dennis is correct. The oldest GR instrument in use on my bench is a Type1231-B Amplifier and Null Detector and its accessory Type 1231-P2 Tuned Circuit, both ca. 1950 (my 1231-B is the early design).
