Restoring a 468
I'm tossing around the thought of restoring a 468. It has Mostek MK36694J-5 and MK36693J-5 ROMs. Are these something that in order to do a proper restore need to be replaced? I had originally planned

Re: Good loupes
I think they might be good. They have a clear part that is big like safety glasses, so maybe you can fit your prescription lenses
in a frame under them.

Re: Tektronix 2467B good buy?
9374L. I've been thinking of buying LC684DXL but it is not a very big
improvement for occasional use. I don't like DSOs and prefer my trusty
beloved 2467B unless I absolutely need some DSO-specific

Re: Good loupes
I think marking distance is the same as focal distance.
And I heartily agree with John. The old OptiVisor does not get near to a good pair of binocular loupes.

Re: Good loupes
Unless your glasses correct precisely, the loupes will be roughly
equivalent to your vision in three zones. One where your farsighted
eye can focus, one where your nearsighted eye can focus, and one

Re: Good loupes
My eyes have differing vision. One is nearsighted, the other is farsighted. Are those loupes usable under those circumstances?

When I was there during 1966-1971 the lacing was clear and round. It should be listed in one of the Common Design

Re: 465M goes dead and then magically comes back to life.
Yes Dave, I have had fuse holders go iffy on me before. Sometimes replacing a fuse holder turns into a big project. This fuse holder on the 465M interface board feels very tight when I snap in a new

Re: Good loupes
Don't know. It focuses at about 8 inches in front of me. Wearing them takes getting used to, but it lets you work at a "normal" distance. I guess it's a YMMV situation, but I am quite pleased with my

Re: Good loupes
What is the term marking distance? 420mm. Is that the distance from the front of the lenses they focus at?

Re: Cable lacing
I don't know, but I have a feeling it is waxed nylon webbing about 3mm wide and less than a .5mm thick.
It was a kind of a standard of the 60's 70's even the 80's (in mil contract land).

You'll be able to figure out (perhaps) what the chip is, and get data
on it. You may or may not be able to read the formatting from the

I meant to followup on that but just forgot.? I'll have to open it up again or see if I can tell from the photo a model number. There is a large an Altera chip and Altera was bought out

Re: 7B53A seamless modification... Adding Alternate Delayed time base visualization (with trace separation)
That would be if someone else has better sheet. With mine it was impossible
to get a clear view even on the reader. Usually they are better than this.

Re: 465M goes dead and then magically comes back to life.
I had something similar on a piece of audio equipment --- the
intermittent nature had me baffled for ages.
I should add that each time it failed I checked the fuse and put it back.
Then one day it

465M goes dead and then magically comes back to life.
My 465M went dead. It started with the power LED flashing. Then it went dead. I went to a fuse inside in the power supply that was 1/4 amp. It had 56 volts on one side and zero on the other. I pulled

Hakan,
Ah Hah! I knew it was too obvious for not having been thought of before!
On the other side...I`m kind of sad now. I was hoping that I had an original idea :-(.
At least, to save my face, for
