Re: K213 Instrument Cart Drawer Jammed
Are there locks on the drawer slides that drop into place when you pull it all thew way out? If so you push in on them, while closing the drawer. Michael A. Terrell

K213 Instrument Cart Drawer Jammed
After many years, I attempted to open the drawer. I was successful, but it didn't open smoothly and I cannot close it now. Looking underneath, there is a plate covering everything but the last 3 1/2

Re: Tek 465 no display
Many years ago, I was playing with transistors when they (almost) first came out. It's a learning process. I've got electronics that are old, but I've decided to concentrate on mostly the solid state

I've seen several scenarios. One has a tantalum capacitor directly across the power supply, either on the main board or on an auxiliary board. A de

Thank you John. I will start with what Albert is sending. I agree, that it would be nice to have original paper manuals. Pdf and jpg files are great as original paper manuals are expensive but a real

Re: If you had $1, 000 to buy a 100 MHz scope...
There are some articles about refurbishing the LCD shutter. You get to figure out how much the return will be. There are LCD displays that I think the 544A would manage. If I had the option (I have a

Re: Tek 465 no display
That would be great Albert. My A9 layout is tough to read. If it wasn't for the grid location list I would have to have guessed what was what. Now it looks like it's on to other boards to get that

Re: Tek 465 no display
Uh-oh. This is what happened to me. I started with a slightly broken 2465, got hooked fixing it and now I'm knee deep in Tek scopes. Have fun - IMHO each of those old service manuals is education. If

Thanks for the nudge Harvey. And for the helpful suggestions from other scope ninjas here. I have some breadboards and lots of passive components...even a few transistors. Maybe if the smoke clears

Re: 575 restoration
Thanks guys. The 575 in my possession has no "bottom" plate, either over the EHT box nor the 'scope main chassis. The second photo is of the underside "as-is". I can't see how ether could be attached,

Re: If you had $1, 000 to buy a 100 MHz scope...
Siglent makes the very low end Lecroy scopes. At Lecroy prices, they suck. At Siglent prices it's a whole different story. The shuttered CRT on my 544A is probably a bit dim. I can hardly see the one

Re: If you had $1, 000 to buy a 100 MHz scope...
I have a couple TDS754s. An 'A' and a 'D' - while I agree that the 'A' is a little slow to respond at times when doing more processor heavy work, the 'D' is very snappy and responsive.? I find little

That's a LOT of progress Russ! With some more experience you might have thought already of a shorted C1549 after posts by Harvey and Fabio IIRC. One was that as good as zero output is a significant

Re: If you had $1, 000 to buy a 100 MHz scope...
My TDS784D is only turned on when I need the bandwidth or one of its features, I'll usually reach for the 2467 or the HP54622D - in that order of preference. If Rigol is under consideration, you may

One step closer! C1549 looked like it might have been replaced with a mylar cap. As soon as I unsoldered one side and turned on the scope, the fan came on! So i replaced it with a 47mf 25 v

Re: 575 restoration
Hi John, Lack of shielding, maybe (RFI from HV circuit)? I think the '575 doesn't have a shield lid in the HV area, but you can try again with the bottom lid in its place. Regards, Sebastian. PS:
