Re: Introducing myself and my Tek 465 Project
In the past I have overloaded a few plastic packaged power transistors resulting in shrapnel in the ceiling, the wall, me, etc.

Re: 2445a power supply repair
Hello, Christoph, No, I don't have PG506/SG503. But I hope that for the vertical cal HP 8175a programmable generator. Would it suffice, what do you think? Also, I have another question. The

Re: Introducing myself and my Tek 465 Project
Thanks Jerry - I'd be buying a 7000 series time base off feabay for that one IC if not for you! I'd be very curious as to the version difference too. With all the mention of 'touch as little as

Re: Introducing myself and my Tek 465 Project
Hi, The tek ref I have does not list the -01. I replaced the -02 in my 7B80 with a -01 and both served well past 250Mhz. I sent Neil a -01 per his request. I have more -02s but do have another -01. I

Tek 2440 ripple, grat illum inop
You might remember the dead 2440 I'd resurrected last year. It mostly works now, except for annoying ripple (and grat illum, which I'll get to later). I have a little time to work on it now. ===

Re: a sick 576 (and it's owner) needs help
Are you sure the current is flowing? I would first put a meter in series with CE resistor in current mode and measure the current to make sure it was what it should be then figure out why the voltage

Re: a sick 576 (and it's owner) needs help
Yes it does. Mechanically all is fine and and the resistors itself are also good. I spend the efford to pull them out oft he tracer and measure them with the highest quality Test gear we have at work.

I have been known to replace an axial electrolytic by nipping its wires right next to its body (hence leaving its leads still soldered to the board), and soldering the replacement to the original

Re: Introducing myself and my Tek 465 Project
You are absolutely right. OTOH, it's wise to move and change as little as necessary and there's no law that forbids soldering at the component side. Just make sure that the PCB remains in as good a

Re: Tek 2247A [SN B029000] Recap and diode part list ?
Ting, I looked at your pictures of your 2247 power supply, and it appears identical in all respects to my 2246A scopes pwr supply. I recapped my power supply about a year ago after checking the power

That seems a valid conclusion. It definitely looks like you have a situation like Malcolm's. Follow his good advice. I'd just like to add that it's a good idea to try and avoid excessive stress on the

Re: Introducing myself and my Tek 465 Project
The absence of -8 V is caused more often than not by a short. You should be able to check what's going into the regulator, thereby possibly avoiding a lot of disassembly of the circuits upstream.

Re: 2220 POST displays a large X on the screen
So then, it looks like the 2220 does not have readout, right? Does it have any menu functions at all to communicate with it? If not, then maybe the "X" is indeed the alignment pattern for it, while on
