Re: Tek 465B woes
You can do most of the vertical and horizontal calibration with a function generator and good AC voltmeter.

Fixed a problem in a SC501 Oscilloscope for TM500
Hi everybody, This little post to share my last experience with an old SC501 TM500 oscilloscope. I haven¡¯t used it for 3 or 4 years and when I switched it on, no power and a nice smell of baked

Re: Tek 465B woes
So often scope problems are in the power supply, I thought the zener was there, and then possibly THE reference for everything. The fancy TC-zeners are seldom needed elsewhere. My fault for not

Re: Tek 465B woes
Oh, now this is becoming a problem, Jim. You mean head out to the auction sites and start looking around for calibration equipment??? I will blame you for the lightness of my wallet if this goes any

Re: Tek 465B woes
should work fine¡ the pic is nice¡.. this zener controlled the pull-up current in the final horz stage, it¡¯s not super critical, it will just change the gain slightly, you may not need a

Re: Tek 465B woes
Great to hear ed. Glad I am OK. Thanks for the education David. I'm also glad I just purchased 200 zener 6.2 v diodes for $4 usd. I will probably never be in this situation again waiting for this

Re: Tek 465B woes
VR4341 sets the output current of both output current sources via their base voltages which biases the output transistors so it is a reference application instead of a clamp or level shift. The value

Re: Tek 465B woes
No problem then - I just didn't know where in the scope this discussion was about. Your part choice should be just fine. Ed

Re: Christian Weagle's website on 5000-series oscilloscope down....
Hello Mike, Mark, thanks for your friendly advice. I have cleaned my local DNS resolver cache and can access http://www.i9t.net/ now through my regular ISP now. Sorry for being a pest. Should have

Re: Tek 465B woes
Hi Ed. the zener is VR4341, Tek part No. 152-0166-00. I'm not sure if the zener is used as a reference voltage. I believe it is part of the horizontal amp circuit and bridges the two balanced

Re: 7704A -just a quickie
Hello Keith, a few friendly hints included below. Good luck, Magnus * Yes, you can operate the so-called acquisition unit alias the lower part without the display unit. But you need to carefully

Re: Help need with the TDS 700A Adjustment Software
Hakan, Thank you for your help. I put my card in the 2a mode and edited the adj700.bat file. I removed the NI drivers from config.sys I am now able to run the software. Many thanks !!!

Re: Tek 465B woes
Someone here may have mentioned the issue of TC-zeners already, but if not, you should be aware of the details. Is this zener spot used as the reference for the whole power supply, or is it elsewhere

Re: Christian Weagle's website on 5000-series oscilloscope down....
Magnus, Try accessing using dotted decimal notation your local DNS may be the culprit. Regards, Mike

Good Day, wow, it *does* work when I tried it through a US-based VPN... I have printed the content as PDF for my own reference. It does *not* work when accessing it thru a German/EU ISP! Any

Re: Tek 465B woes
Hi Ed. Thanks for the email. That is a neat trick with the NPN transistor, but I only see this as a temporary fix. I ordered a 1n5234B zener as a replacement from Mouser and will install it next week

Re: Tek 465B woes
I think you can consider the transistor B-E reverse breakdown to replace a zener diode as a permanent fix if necessary, if the circuit seems to work properly, but there are no specifications that you

Ok. I uploaded the file of the Frankenstein zener. Please no comments on the sloppy solder job. I had some trouble getting the original zener out of the board. I plan to clean it all up when I install
