Re: 2445 vs 2465 scopes
All the voltages are referenced to +10v. If this is wrong then all
the others will be as well. So this is a good place to start. Before the PSU fault, did you try adjusting the grid bias to see if it cleared up your display problem? Incorrect grid bias can cause all sorts of strange displays on the screen. Tek 5113 Intensity control
m8jpk
Hello All
i am trying to repair the intensity control cct fpr a tek 5113 spent several days no joy. I am getting the neg pulse all the way to the z axis amps. out put Z Axiz, full amplitude 70V peak on both. Amplitude can be varied using brightness controls but the grids remain at 3.4kv all the time. Checked all cpmponents around the restorer cct all looks and measures ok. What is the function of the neon lamps? Any Help most appreciated. Thanks M8JPK |

Current Tektronix Catalog Product's Overdrive Recovery
Joe Rooney
Folks,
I had an old friend that still sells Tek products in the rep channel call about overdrive recovery specifications of current Tektronix oscilloscopes. He said he could not get an answer, no less an understanding of the inquiry from his Tektronix contacts. He was sitting in the Physics Lab at Bezerkeley with the potential purchaser. I remember the 7A13 as being one of the best for its bandwidth, something like recvoering from a 10 volt overdrive within 1ms at 1mv/ div and spec'd to within 5mv of zero inside 1 microsecond. (I think) Have any of you folks kept abreast of Tektronix products to field an answer? I certainly haven't Thanks, Joe Rooney |
Re: Data transfer software for Tek 7854 ??
Way back when - before the Internet - Tek ran a BBS system where many

files were available for download. I kept a listing of those files but I doubt if the BBS is still alive. I think they did move some of the files to an FTP server but I can't seem to find them. One of the files in the listing is a package written in Basic for the 7854. Maybe someone who had a 7854 and downloaded that software still has a copy and could post it to the files area here. --------------------------------------------------------------------- --- In TekScopes@..., "Ray Johnson" <johnsorj666@...>

I haven't crossed this bridge, as I don't have a GPIB card in my computer yet, but there is a lot of GPIB specific application information dealing with the 7854, which I think includes specifications of all the commands, regardless of whether they became standard or were specific to the 7854. So hopefully interfacing to the full capability of the hardware is still possible.

It was preceded by several portables, a modified 465 analog (I think) and the 468. None of these early GPIB products conformed to the later "packaged" codes one could use to retrieve volts/div settings, sweep speeds and that is why it is likely not on any particular thrid party list of supported products. The device dependent codes were all over the map, but the basic supervisory commands should still work. Data transfer software for Tek 7854 ??
Hi All
Has anyone found (or created) a simple GPIB data dump application for the Tek 7854 scope? What I have in mind is to dump captured waveforms from the 7854 into a PC through a NI GPIB card then import the text data into Excel where I can clean up the plot--My ultimate goal is to have a VBA ap which will do this transfer directly but intermediate steps/ software is OK for now. Any solutions are appreciated Ray in Minnesota |

As I recall from reading up on this, the fan is not temperature controlled but a burshless DC design running at a constant RPM. I could be mistaken, but I don't remember anything in the manual discussing temperature control.

I think Walter at Sphere might have one, but shipping to the EU might be pricey. I was fortunate in that while my 7854 had been dropped, I knew this ahead of time and after reforming the rear panel, the fan works properly. Dave Casey ----- Original Message -----

BUT the fan-blades are completly crushed, so either I need to get hold of new fanblades, or, do some surgery and replace the existing fan with a computertype of fan. That however will force me to create some sort of new fan-speed/temperature controller. Thinking of using a controller designed for computers. Is this doable, and how large needs the fan to be (cfm or m3/h). I vagely remember seeing something about this somewhere on the net.
