You'll find that the fan motor is a circuit unto itself. The motor
itself is brushless and has several Hall-effect sensors inside for

Thanks for the tips. I found a replacement cap from a 545A "hangar
queen". Now the RM31a works great and no jitter. The cap in
question was leaky, thus causing the ripple.
