Re: Advice on 577 Resurrection

David and Dale: YES on all:

As we were power elecronics designers since 70s' we have a collection of Variacs, the best are indeed the old Staco and GenRad with ACV RMS and AC .

Mains in UK EU = power line in USA

The voltage mentioend ar efine.

Alternate is an un metered variac and use the knob calibration for V .

Add aseries AC ammeter (or clamp on whith splitter) but the clamp on are no accurate.

Today we are working on a trusty 7603 mainframme TEK with blown linear PSU, that draws normal till a few sec at 30-60V

Then lets losse with 2-4 A curretn , smoke and smells...

Its a dyiung lytic on the rectifier board, an on FP can

Enjoy,

I suspect that he means one of the portable Variacs supplied cased with an output voltmeter, such as the Type W8MT3VM.

For field use I built my own portable cased Variac with an output voltmeter and ammeter, and fuse-protected input and output:

Re: DO I NEED TO CHANGE THE 3.7 VOLTS BATTERY IN TEKTRONIX 2467 WHEN IT READS 3.7 VOLTS

Voltage is a poor indicator of remaining charge, lithium batteries maintain a mostly flat voltage over their life with a sharp drop at the end.

DO I NEED TO CHANGE THE 3.7 VOLTS BATTERY IN TEKTRONIX 2467 WHEN IT READS 3.7 VOLTS

I am working on a Tektronix 2467 oscilloscope and need to know if I need to put new 3.7 volt battery in this oscilloscope when to battery reads 3.7 volts.

Re: Advice on 577 Resurrection

Thanks @Jean-Paul. What do you mean by "metered" variac. I have a variac. Do you just mean put a meter on it to more carefully calibrate the suggested voltage? Or, if I read-between the lines, where you say to observe the "mains current", are you suggesting that I put a DMM inline in ammeter mode between the variac and the 577 to monitor current? And if so, what am I looking for at the suggested voltage stops (30, 60, 90, 120)? Thanks.

Re: Succesfully upgraded TDS620 to TDS640.

Hello Rafael,

Sorry for my late response. I honestly don't know if this works on a TDS620A.
I do not have any schematics of the TDS620A but if there are some configuration-resistors on the acquisition-board you could try all the settings like I did.
Maybe this will work.

Tek & Hp Test equipment up for auction

I have been a fairly quiet member here for a few years. Electronics has been a hobby my entire life and has been joined at the hip with my business for 33 years. Unfortunately I must close my business so everything is/will-be up for auction. I do not have any of the good test equipment listed yet but you can see a few pictures on the home page (slide show). Please go to we have a lot of different items listed with many more to come. Due to the very limited time I have to sell/get rid of everything: If anyone is near Chesapeake Va. PM me, you could get one heck of deal on equipment.

Re: Seller Help

Hi Mike,

I don't see your direct email address so I can't respond off list.

Qservice web page is:

I'm a satisfied customer.

Re: 577 D1 with 177 fixture value question

hipping 577/576 is always risky, sellers seldom have the correct box thickness stregnth or packing materials.

Most arrive with broken or internal damaged CRT.

Take photos and keep packaging, sned to seller demand refund ASAP.

look for these at ocal CL, auctions or ham fleas.

Hand carry only NO freight

Interesting that this probe to BNC adaptor is not yet listed on TekWiki. The picture looked a lot like one of the standard #6-32 probe to BNC adaptors (013-0054-00) of which there are two sitting on my desk right now, but the ground connection on the P5102 adaptor is slightly different to allow for the 1000 V rating. Tek clearly had the early adaptor in mind when they designed this later one.

If I can find the time, I'll try to add this later photo to TekWiki.

Hi Michael
Could you tell me which pot you are refering to?
I also have the problem of the horizontal size of the sweep not going fully to the left.
thanks

Jim,
This is not your “typical” probe to BNC adapter. It is used for the P5102

By the way, there are two of the more conventional adapters for $4 and $12
from DigiKey.

This is correct. The adapter might be used for other P51xx series probes? but I have a few P5102 probes for my THS700 series scopes and would like to get everything all adjusted and straightened out.

I cooouullddd jury-rig something on the bench with wire and tape, but if I can buy/build/steal something to do it 'properly' that would be ideal.

Thanks!
Jared.

Subject: [TekScopes] Wanted: 013-0291-02 Probe to BNC adapter, or help to DIY

Hi all,

I'm currently searching for a 013-0291-02 (or -00, -01 etc if they exist) probe to BNC adapter that isn't going to cost me a left kidney and first-born son...

It looks like this:

If anyone has one of these to sell and can ship to Japan, please let me know!
Or even if you could take some good photos and measurements and help to examine its construction, in the off chance a DIY reproduction could be made...

Thanks!
Jared

Get a refund. Top dollar for a 577 with no CRT is a show stopper.
