Re: 7603 horizontal performance
The faster rates of the 7B87 are too fast for the 7603, by far: Fastest calibrated hor. sweep is 5ns/div. 7B87 goes down to 1 ns/div (with 10x multiplier). Raymond

Re: Sampling head extender missing coax connectors
Shipping rates from Canada really suck. So does the wait time from China...

Re: TEK370A >> 370B ?
No, and not sure why you would want to, the topology and function are virtually identical. The 370 would be a different story. I work on these models regularly, these are the differences that I know

While searching Ebay for a GR874 splitter tee, I came across this listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-4-Tektronix-017-054-017-052-With-General-Radio-GR-874-Connectors/362763553704 I think these

Re: 3T77 tunnel diodes (again)
good point, thanks for the reminder! The DIP canned crystal oscillators must have more current source capability than standard TTL. I ran the output through a 1K resistor and a 5K trimpot to the anode

Tek 2230 psu story (work in progress)
Hi! im currently fighting with a Tek 2230 that really don't want to come back from the graveyard, i'm posting this hoping that my experience may one day help someone else. So... i've got it from an

Re: To Beeswax or not to Beeswax: that is the question.
Hello Jim, I have designed and mfg HV transformers since 1970s. We used double and tripe or even quad build wire, and specials winding configurations. The Impregnation is either a special vacuum

Hello there: Very fine to yave these mainframes. I have the similar 7904, with 7B92A HOR plugins, HOR LIN is fine, however at the fastest sweep rates first CM of sweep start has some slight

7603 horizontal performance
I have just refurbished and calibrated my 7603. The frame itself showed 2.5ns rise time and bandwidth was 140MHz. With 7A26 system rise time is 3ns and bandwidth seems to extend to 130MHz. Small dip

Re: Introduction and issue with a 1A1 plugin
The Balance and Grid Current nulling adjustments are different. Grid current is nulled by a circuit which injects an equal amount of current of the opposite polarity into the input line. The Grid

TEK370A >> 370B ?
Is it possible to upgrade a 370A to 370B by changing the firmware? (except from floppy drive) Any information welcome... thanks, Fred

New member, so forgive me if this has already been discussed here, but I THINK transformer and inductor windings are typically impregnated with a thermosetting varnish of some kind. The one I'm

Re: 465 B sweep switch cam
I came across and fixed this problem on a 465 quite a few years ago, maybe 1985 or 1990. The shaft had been hit and the little plastic piece that was molded onto the hollow shaft had shattered inside

I think that would work fine, with the same signal quality as before. There is no need for symmetry but if you insist you might add a flip-flop in the final stage. Actually most fast pulsers produce

That's an approved Tek mod which became standard on later production. It's a current regulator for the tube heaters. Instruments with the mod have a more stable Memory Balance which doesn't have to

How about using a few TTL gates in series since the output of the oscillator is already TTL? (As you noted, use the osc output to trigger, and instead of driving the TD from the osc output, drive it

Re: 1A2 on eBay, needs some work
That seller has several Tek plug ins that look like they didn't know about the release screw at the bottom. Looks like they pried them out with a crowbar.
