SC503 and SC504 Volts/Div and Time/Div knob Shafts

Greetings from Louisiana!

I have had several damaged shipments of the SC502, SC503, SC504 scopes. The Slope / Level switch-pot is damaged along with the knob. In a similar way the Volts/Div and Time/Div knobs were broken. In one case the shafts on all 3 knobs were broken. I decided to have shafts built in plastic and 316L Stainless steel. I took the original knob with the printed skirts and drilled out the original shaft and replace with the custom shafts I designed and had manufactured. The plastic shafts are as good as the original, and the 316L stainless steel shafts are far better than the original.

I am also working on having the skirts manufactured out of 1/16" acrylic and printed with UV Ink.

So now for the question(s)...
1) Does anyone have any SC502, SC503, SC504 knobs with broken shafts that need to be repaired. I can provide the shafts or repair your broken shaft.
2) Does anyone need new skirts for SC502, SC503, SC504.

So far I have restored several of these scopes (more than 10). Initially I got plenty of help / suggestions from the group. Many thanks for that.

Regards,

Barry

Re: 465 Dead HV Multiplier?

The 465 uses the 152-0552-00 5kV peak-to-peak x3 to 15kV multiplier which has a 510 kilohm output resistor.

This thread throws light on the function of that resistor -

BOTs : Technology at its worst...

I too appreciate the resource, and give my thanks.

While I agree wholeheartedly about AI mining bots, a small number of bots
are useful. One such is the internet archive, which can form an emergency
backup.

For example, to see the main page, goto and type "
w140.com/tekwiki/wiki/Main_Page" into the search box. The result is
currently

and from that other pages can be accessed.

In addition, since this site makes good use of simple URLs, it can be
possible to infer the relevant page directly, e.g, just search directly for
"w140.com/tekwiki/wiki/1502"

If you spot a missing page, it is possible for anybody to submit individual
URLs for archiving at some point in the future. I would be hesitant to do
that at the moment on the presumption that it might currently have its work
cut out archiving US government datasets and web pages.

Re: TekWiki is down, "Login required" ?

Part of the problem, as I see it, that the younger one is, the less
valuable the site is. So there is an optimal age at which the backup admins
are younger than me but where the vintage Tektronix technology is still
valuable. Consider buying a 7104 for $200, including shipping. And Jim
Williams' principle of having gear that one can repair still holds.

I'm not sure where to go from here, or even if travel is necessary. Kurt
has done a good job so far and I haven't detected any deviation from that.

I'd be willing to help if the admins don't mind. I'm on the mid to low end
of the age demographic I assume applies to us here.

Earlier today, I sent Kurt a PM asking if he was well and if so, does he

so many of us depend on Tekwiki.
Also, I suggested we should arrange some kind of reimbursement for his
costs. I remember this came up some years ago and ISTR that he didn't
deem
it necessary at the time.
I'd like to bring this up again at this moment.
Any ideas?

WTB: HV transformer for SC502, Part# 120-1016-00

Hi all.

Looks like the HV transformer in my SC502 oscilloscope has decided to die...

Does anyone have one of these they can sell to me and send to Japan?
The one in my unit has part number 120-1016-00 (looks to be used in the SC504 too?), but any compatible revision of this part would be fine.
I have paypal ready to go. :)

Thanks!

Re: TekWiki is down, "Login required" ?

Hi,

Tekwiki is being overloaded by bots that attempt to download the entire website. The result is bad service for human users of the site. I expect the performance of the website to remain bad until we implement a solution to that problem. We're working on it.

If you're curious and want to understand the general problem, you can do a web search for "ai scraper wikipedia".

Feel free to email me directly if you have questions regarding Tekwiki.

Re: Tektronix 547 Lack of Sweep or Intensity Control

The manual of my EICO 232 vtvm indicates that it can measure up to 30kVDC, but with a special high voltage probe, otherwise it's up to 1500V only.

Re: TekWiki is down, "Login required" ?

Kurt Rosenfeld last I knew.
I have a login since I contributed before and am able to get in, however it is extremely slow.

Re: 7844 intensified sweep

Mark,

Also, it is possible the still gold stiff pins need added solder to the boards. A bit of solder on each side.

Re: TekWiki is down, "Login required" ?

I was able to get the copy of the manual I needed from the Wayback Machine.
I recommend others to use this as a temporary solution until this gets
sorted out.
