IFR A-7550 Spectrum Analyzer question

Sorry if I offend anyone by asking in Tekscopes about these fine
Aeroflex/IFR instruments, but there are so many knowledgeable folks that hang out here! I'm trying to figure out what the "CAL" self test is testing and how to reset it. Mine gives "F". I suspect that it is a time derived flag and can be reset somehow. I have been through the calibration procedure and the service manual and I can't find any mention of the CAL or RF self tests, other than how to trigger them thru the menus. What do you do, what do you look for when you have a fail on either of these two test? Thanks if you can help! George in Acton, Ontario, Canada |
Plot 10 / TCS / AGII software?
John Rehwinkel
A long time ago, I used Tektronix's ForTran plotting software, first
with a 4010, then with a VT-100 retrofit to support the Tektronix graphics commands. Years later, I found out that Tektronix had release the source code for it, and I played with it some more. It has lots of commands (like SLIMX to reduce the size of a plot in the X direction) to customize its output. In any case, I've lost my copy of it. Does anyone have access to the old ForTran Plot-10 Advanced Graphing source code? I've struck out doing web searches, although I did find a PDF of the sales documentation: ¨C John |

I've never seen the service manual for the 2246 available "free" online anywhere. (Though I wouldn't mind finding one. - If for no other reason to flip through) David On Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 12:37 PM, Doug hale <Tektronix@...> wrote:

Are the measurements accurate for what you see, or is the trace compressed?

Re: 2430A CCD and PA fail... bad NVRAM?
Hi,
I hope this post isn't bad new for your but here goes: Make sure you point an external fan at the CCD when running outside the cover. Even 10 minutes of operation with the CCDs being cooled is enough to destry them. I hope you have a 2430A abover serial number B015xxx, anything below that is going to be painful. Also, the usual CCD failure will not really show up until you use REPET mode. You see this on ebay all the time "This scope has CCD failures but I input a signal and it works great!" Yeah, at 1ms/Div. Try a fast signal and using 100ns/Div or faster. --Victor |

Obsolete part needed for repair
Does anyone know where I can locate the following obsolete part?
HP3081 If not, can you provide me with a data sheet that I can use to find a suitable cross reference? The part is not for a Tektronix Scope, it is a pin diode used in a Advantage Instruments SA1300C Spectrum analyzer that I am repairing. There are 2 diodes in series connected to the input of the spectrum analyzer (both HP3081's). Unfortunately, 1 has blown and I would like to get a few of these in case of future problems. So far the only places I can find them are places that locate obsolete parts like USBID, but they have a $250 minimum order. Does anyone know of a suitable replacement for this? I figured that it was worth a chance asking here, since there are many knowledgeable people here that repair such equipment. |
