Re: 549 transformer question
No, right now I not interested in anything that even could make me leave my bunker. I'm in my mid 80s so I probably would not survive a Covid hit. I am fortunate to be financially stable so it's

Re: 549 transformer question
Years ago when my father was the plant engineer for the local Tultex cotton mill, I would go there with him and assist. Thinking back I remember on the giant Shlafhorst (sp) open end spinning frames

Re: 2465B hybrid cleaning?
Hello Chuck: I traced line trigger signal, fine on the main board power connector, and it DOES line trigger! As the same fault Test 05 fail 42 appears on all the A5 control boards I have checked,

Re: 549 transformer question
Hi Snap, I don't know that it is a gloat thing. I have somewhere around a hundred of my transformers in the hands of members of this group. I have wound a whole lot more when you consider all of

Re: [dead tek 485] Can i fix it ? (newbie here)
Hi Jose, I just checked in mine: When turning the grid bias, the voltage at C1660 goes from +/- 80 to +/-120 VDC positive. It was set for 105V in mine. Btw, the layout of my board is different

Re: 549 transformer question
Sine wave, polyphase motor systems are inherently damped because of the sine arithmetic. The problem with sine wave systems is it is hard to have them locked into known ratios with other sine wave

Re: 549 transformer question
Hi Bert, I did my first automation project using stepper motors in 1984. This isn't my first rodeo, as they say.. The arduino MEGA 256 is running software called GBRL MEGA 5x, which is a 6 axis

Re: 7904: odd readout issue + vertical gain issue
Drift of these low-value resistors (R657, R659, R662, R663, R672) in the vertical amplifier destroys impedance matching and so completely destroys frequency behavior. By "drifted over 5 Ohms", do you

Re: [dead tek 485] Can i fix it ? (newbie here)
Leo, Good for you. I was not looking forward to taking mine out of the case to confirm that voltage. It will be interesting to learn what that voltage should look like. -- Michael

Re: 549 transformer question
Jim Ford suggested sine wave drive. I think, How about a shaft coupling made of elastic material with damping?? Oh, now that I read ahead I see you're already thinking about it. I am eager to hear

Re: 7904: odd readout issue + vertical gain issue
Hi Sean, A bit of drift shouldn't be a big problem if both resistors in a pair do it by the same amount ¡ª it's when one differs from the other that you'll get the trace shifting up or down. But

Re: 549 transformer question
I don't want to gloat or anything, but I had my 547 transformer rewound by Bill almost 20 years ago IIRC. It's been flawless, I even put back the 5642 rectifier tubes so it works at load.

Re: 2465B hybrid cleaning?
Jon, Static precautions need to be followed when handling. I¡¯ve heard about cleaning the hybrid mating surfaces with the iso alcohol, but personally never done it to solve any issue. Why would you

Re: [dead tek 485] Can i fix it ? (newbie here)
Hi Jose, Because of your work, I found that in my 485 the Pos potmeters (all three) are dirty, that's why I opened mine. Tomorrow morning I will check the voltage on C1660 and report back to you

Re: 7904: odd readout issue + vertical gain issue
Thanks everyone. I think Nick here found the winner. R670 and 672 have both drifted over 5 ohms on both vertical amps I have. I'll try replacing those two first. Sean
