Re: 11801 diagnostic help
Usually there are three parts in a NVRAM, 1.SRAM 2.DS1210(or DS121x?) 3. 3V battery This means we can make NVRAM by ourself, HM6116+DS1210+two 1.5V AAA batteries=DS1220Y(2Kx8 NVRAM) one 256K

Repairability of SD-24, SD-30 & SD-32 sampling heads
Has anyone attempted to repair one? If so, what was the outcome? I'm familiar with the EPROM failure repair. I'm really asking about the input and output sections as they are ESD sensitive. Are

Re: 11801 diagnostic help
I'd have had to wait for my ST replacement NVRAM without the assist from Tom Miller. Wherever did you find a DS1213? Digikey and Mouser don't have them. I doubt that any of the ones on eBay have

Re: 11801 diagnostic help

Re: 11801 diagnostic help
Good point and that jogged a memory. Try pulling the ram chips out of the smartsocket and plugging them directly in. See if it will fully boot without the same error.

Re: 11801 NVRAM
Those are *not* 11801 manuals. They are 11801C manuals. I currently have a PDF of the 11801 service manual courtesy of a member of the list and the 11801,11802 & SM11 diagnostics courtesy of

Re: 11801 diagnostic help
Thanks. It got overlooked among the ridiculous number of 11801C manuals I found listed as 11801 manuals. Breaks over, back to work :-) --------------------------------------------

Re: 11801 diagnostic help
Hi Reg, I thought this manual had been mentioned before. I meant the last manual listed at tekwiki, http://w140.com/tekwiki/wiki/11801 . Also here:

Re: 577 Curve tracer ringing CRT and noisy step generator
They should be symmetrical, however checking a 577 that just came in I found U220 pin 9 is actually pin 13, guess you can't trust the gates in the manual :) probably some updates somewhere but I don't

Albert, Where do I find a diagnostics manual for the 11801? Finding *any* manuals at all has been like looking for a unicorn. Days of searching turned up 11801A/B/C documents. But no 11801

Re: 11801 diagnostic help
Hi Reg, One more remark. With Extended Diagnostics disabled you can (probably) still control the 11801 via GPIB. See for instance my CSA803 repair, message 148037. Albert

Hi Reg, You moved the correct jumpers (Fig. 1-1 in the Diagnostics manual). I suppose (just suppose) now that the Exxxx error is too severe. When the battery in the Dallas battery is low, the NVRAM

Re: 11801 NVRAM
Forget my idea, the 3V to VCC of SRAM might be too low.too dangerous! but you can replace the DS1213 with a pin compatible 32k8 SRAM and try it. if it works you will get battery error but you can exit
