Re: Tek 154-0812-00 Storage CRT
Wow. Well with that I suppose you are on the only path available. I guess it must have been built under tension or??? That is a big gap. I was envisioning something akin to an open light bulb,

Re: Tek 154-0812-00 Storage CRT
A photographic strobe charger will work fine as well. If you do not want to build one, then you might find one in a junked camera that you can use. I might try using a small power transformer to step

Re: Tek 154-0812-00 Storage CRT
Well, take the 120 volt AC line into a X2 Cockcroft-walton multiplier will get there if you are careful. For less fireworks, use an isolation transformer and a fuse :).

Re: Tek 154-0812-00 Storage CRT
Rob, The hard part would be getting the strap near enough to the pin to "weld" it back to the pin. The pin, inside the jug, looks like it's been bent, though I don't know how that would have happened.

Re: Using an analog/digital scope
Nice to see what such a 'scope can do, but I think the settings are difficult to follow when you are not already very familiar with the 2232. The demo finishes with the Tektronix logo at the CRT

Re: Tek 154-0812-00 Storage CRT
Tom, There's about an 1/8" gap between the pin and the strap. Might be possible, but I also don't really have a way to charge a 450 V cap... ;-) Mark

Re: Tek Probes
The P5100 sure has great specifications. However I do not use it because the 5mm probe accessories do not fit and most of the time ease of use will prevail if the measurement allows. I might have to

Re: 495 mixer beam leads replaced with C2 diode pack
What is a C2 diode pack? Which aftermarket mixer? How does the performance compare? Thanks...

Using an analog/digital scope
This is one of the best demos I've seen of the use of a scope (a Tek 2232, btw) to use all the functions of the scope to examine different waveforms: <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8MamgRaLsM> Very

Re: Tek 154-0812-00 Storage CRT
Some of the old CRT testers also have a last ditch heater re-weld function as I recall. I remember the shop I worked in back in the 80's had an old tester (for black and white only as I recall and/or

Re: Tek 154-0812-00 Storage CRT
Hey Mark, try this. Connect a 47 uF, 450 volt capacitor across the heater pins. Charge the cap through a 47K 1 watt resistor to 499 volts or so. When charged, tap on the neck to get the strap to

Tek 154-0812-00 Storage CRT
Looking for the CRT for the SC503. Shows an open on the ohm meter across the heater. Pulled the jug out of the shield, and sure enough, pin 12 has separated from the thin strip that leads to the

Re: Troubleshooting 7603 High Voltage board
Hi The connectors in the 7603 for the most part are color coded. For example a P1 connector will often be brown and P2 will be red. With this knowledge and the manual you have a better chance of

This might help. It is some extensive tests on a 7603 HV I did a few years ago. http://home.comcast.net/~tek-share/site/?/page/Tektronix_7603/&PHPSESSID\ =a096bf125eb899358c4d218d16fd078d

In the 485 I am working on one of the HV caps has 3 pins. One is tied to a metal shell that looks like a ground shield around the cap. Bob
