Re: 2445A X2 mains input capacitor failures
Hi Patrick These resistors look OK and measure fine. Ah, that sounds like a reasonable theory. Yes, 1988. Typo. Thanks for that. I've got the boards out of the case now. It was just that the LV

Re: WooHoo! 465B
Just a note about using deoxit on pots. I have been doing this for years and have gotten away with it. Some pots are sealed. You simply cannot get spray into them. I carefully drill a small hole in

Re: Now unusual words
Hi, ? Have some of us recently purchased a copy of - Dictionary of Unusual, Obscure and Preposterous Words....? <smile>? The author no longer uses "Byrne" as her last name and has a newer edition.

Re: WooHoo! 465B
Been using that stuff for years on my weapons. Very, very good cleaner, lube, and protectant for firearms. Hadn't thought of using it for pots and such. Mark

Re: Can you display the left plugin using a 5D10?
Hello Jamie, I could not agree more on your statement below. But then, if more people would be aware of how useful the 5000 series equipment is, prices would likely go up :-) I have been able to

I might use WD-40 in an emergency. Naphtha works as a safe cleaner since it will not attack most plastics but ideally you want something that includes a lubricant. I have been using this but CRC and

One thing I forgot to mention is that when I change a bad solid tantalum, I usually go through and find the other solid tantalums of the same voltage and capacitance and proactively change them as

Re: WooHoo! 465B
Usually solid tantalums can be replaced with low impedance aluminum electrolytics of 2 to 4 times the capacitance. The increased capacitance is necessary to duplicate the tantalums ESR or dissipation
