Your suggestion of the TI til302 is a good one.
The dimensions & pinout match the ones in the DC504.
The chips are only 1.4 inches thick, which is what I need.

But, this part is obsolete.
I did find some on Ebay but the seller wants $10 each. I though that was a bit pricey.

At a higher sn, Tek changed the displays to MAN3620 but those are obsolete too.

Still looking.
