Re: Tek Probe Question

BUT ... the 010-0384-00 10x attenuator accessory is optional, according to the P6202A manual. Anyone know where I can buy one of those?

Thanks,
Dave

Good point.

I just recently acquired what appears to be a new or almost-new P6202A
for a very reasonable price. I pulled out my P6046 and found that the
power head has a problem. So, another repair is on the horizon and I
bought the P6202A.

Ans a 2465BDV is on my list of instruments to acquire. I just can't
decide whether to buy one that needs repair and save the money, or
spring for a fully-functional one.

Cheers,
Dave

It's clear that the P6056 probe would be the all-around best choice
for use with my 7904A and 7104 for high-BW measurements using
amplifiers with 1 Mohm input impedance. It looks like my trusty P6106s
will be adequate for use with 50 ohm input amplifiers.

I'm not sure if anyone pointed out that this is backward.

Also, the P6056 is not a very good general purpose probe, due to its
cost, fragility, and high DC loading. Take it out when you need it,
use it carefully, then put it away.

To probe above 200MHz with a Tek 7000 scope, you are probably better
off with a P6201/P6202/P6202A FET probe. They have their own
limitations (mostly DC common mode range), but are useful in more
situations than low impedance probes. You do need to have the
attenuator tips.

Of course you could also consider putting your money toward a 2465B
and those P6139As you mentioned.
