I guess no one wants to buy my 495P with a broken shift key so I am going to try and fix it.
I have the service manual for the 496. While the 496 doesn't have a shift key, it has vague instructions for how to replace a key. I have followed them to the point where I have partial access to the keys. However, it isn't clear to me how to remove and replace a key. It may be that it snaps into the PC board. Is this true, or is it soldered in?
I would love to get a replacement switch - they are listed in the manual as a Tek part, 263-0020-01 for the 496. I would guess it is the same part for the 495.
If I can't get a replacement key I am going to swap the shift key with a seldom used key (maybe the "assign, ext trigger" key.
Of course, it may not be the key but it is my best bet.
Thoughts?
