I said J5-8 below but I see according to schematic this is really J1-10 on A9 Interface Board and J1-10 on Trigger Board. Appears 2 places where pins would be cut. Is this right thing to do?

Tek 465 always in X/Y mode because switch 14 of Time/Div rotary switch is stuck closed so +5V always applied to U870 pin 18. This rotary switch assembly is behind trigger board. If I want to remove trigger board it appears I must desolder BNC center pins, yes? Is it worthwhile/necessary to do this or is there a simpler solution? Like maybe clipping pin J5-8 to trigger board and therefore permanently disabling X/Y mode? Can you advise?
Also, I found a shorted C891 cap that was dragging down +15V and +8 power supplies and replaced same with a standard electrolytic. Since I have unit disassembled would it be advisable to replace all remaining low-voltage electrolytic caps on both trigger and vertical preamp board on opposite side of unit? Interface board? Anything else? Can I replace with standard Al electrolytic caps of like ratings or should I use something else? Anything else I should consider replacing based on age?
Thanks,
Carl
