I have also been experimenting with avalanche pulse generators.

I have since bought a Tek 11801 and SD24 & SD26 sampling heads.
The next step is to build the circuit shown in Linear Technology application note AN-122
The circuit is shown on page 12.
This will give me a pretrigger signal to trigger the sampling scope.
I have also been looking at compensation circuits for cable dribble.
