Re: Tektronix Wire

Those are called Peltola connectors and made by sliding the smaller
eyelet over the coax, folding the braid over it and swedging the
larger eyelet over that so that the center conductor is sticking
out. Tek custom-made special pliers for installing those eyelets
consisting of a pair of fish scaling pliers (they have parallel jaws)
refitted with newly-machined jaws with "U"-shaped cut-outs in the end
to accommodate the coax diameter on the one jaw and the large eyelet
diameter on the other. The Peltola connector is probably the least-
expensive of any RF connector in existance (with the possible
exception of the "F" connector since the Peltola eyelets are gold-
plated) but warrants serious attention since it's used in some of
Tek's highest-bandwidth scopes.

No, the coax is not RG-174 as RG-174 has a stranded center
conductor. The coax used in the Peltola has a solid center
conductor, silver plated, no less, since it serves as the male end of
the signal path much like RG-59 or RG-6 does with an "F" connector.
You should be able to find the cable in the MPL along with the
eyelets. I don't know that it has any kind of standard RG-
designation because it may be custom-made for Tek. I have the
eyelets and can get to them easily, as I recall, and even have some
scrap cable, but the cable's all in storage buried under tons of
boxes where I can't get at it.

Lots of information, but no help, huh?
