Yes, a 2N4303 is indeed the generic part number for that FET. If you have trouble tracking down the original through-hole part, hunt for the surface-mount version (e.g., SMP4303).
If you can't find either of those, look for a FET with an IDSS of around 7mA. This value isn't tightly controlled (the Interfet datasheet shows 4mA to 10mA, along with a breakdown voltage of 30V). Since the FETs are just acting as current sources in those two positions, those are the main parameters to worry about. Others matter much less.
