As best I can tell from the two datasheets, the DS1225Y and the FM16W08 are 'pin compatible', only one is DIP and the other is SOIC, both being 28 pin.
Digikey seems to offer an adaptor board that seems to solve this issue.
It's not clear to me if this board offers the 'pins' for the DIP or not. Otherwise, it seems to be a simple '1:1' pin schematic, if I'm reading correctly.
If you have the board and can mount an FM16W08 chip on the board, it would appear to be a simple matter of sending me the DS1225Y chip and the 'replacement chip' mounted on the adapter and I can simply read the DS1225Y chip and then program the FM16W08 using the same DIP module.
I am still looking to see if I have a dedicated SOIC socket module.

The Ramtron chips are surface mount. I do not have the adapter from DIP to surface mount. I have the Dallas chip. That is in a socket.
